Best thing to do whilst relaxing on the beach
15-09-2021Giving yourself some time to unwind is one of life’s little pleasures. You could be sipping a pina colada, cooling down with an ice pop or catching some rays whilst reading a book, everyone loves to lounge in the sun. Now that most of us have sacrificed our beach trips for weekends inside on the couch for the better part of two years, the time has finally come to get out of the house for some much-needed serenity.
After so long trapped inside, you may be struggling to remember just how you can maximize your downtime, so here are ten things you can do to relax at the beach.
Stream your favourite movies and shows
Thanks to the nature of streaming sites such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime you are now able to watch your favourite shows and movies on the go. By downloading the app on your laptop, phone or tablet you can log in to your streaming service of choice and choose from thousands of titles no matter where you are in the world. Some even offer the opportunity to download them to your device so you can watch them whilst you are not connected to the internet. What better time to sit back and watch than whilst lounging in the sun?
Play some online games
It does not matter where are you are or what you are doing; if you are a gamer, mobiles have made it possible to get involved. Of course, there’s so much to choose between, but we’d recommend an old favourite, blackjack. You can try your luck against the dealer while soaking up the sun. If you’re looking for more of a relaxing game, why not go with Candy Crush? We should warn you though, time will fly by so make sure you keep topping up on the sunscreen!
Rent a sailboat
Strangely enough, there is relaxation to be found in activity and taking a sailboat out into the open water is a great way to unwind. The gentle rock of the boat, the cool ocean breeze and miles of deep blue sea, sailing is a sure-fire way to temper your mind and alleviate stress.
Meditate
There is not many better ways to leave behind the stresses of modern life than meditation and what better setting than a hot, sandy beach. The gentle crashing of the waves makes for the perfect backing track as you sit and allow all your worries to drift away.
The benefits of meditation do not stop at stress relief. It can also control anxiety, improve sleep, help control pain and some scientists even believe it can reduce memory loss in the elderly.
Take a walk along the shore
If you need to clear your head, going for a walk whilst taking in the view from the beach is exactly what you need. Allow the tide to crawl up to your feet and cool you down as you immerse yourself in the nature surrounding you. If you get there early enough you can even watch the sunrise above the water as you stroll through the sand.
Take photographs
You can take some truly stunning photos on the beach, especially with just how much smart phone cameras are advancing. Take out your phone and see what you can find whether it is the view beyond the ocean, critters in the sand or the memories you are making whilst you are there.
Read books and magazines
Most of us live such busy lives nowadays that we struggle to commit to reading, so there may never be a better time to start than whilst on a beach vacation. Find some shade on the sand or pitch up your own umbrella and read to your heart's content.
Have yourself a BBQ
You really cannot beat a BBQ on the beach. Breeze through your hair, sand under your feet and the amazing smell of burgers and hot dogs cooking away. Just slap your meat on the grill and wait for the magic to happen. Quick, easy, and tasty. Of course, make sure you clear up all of your mess, but sit back, put on your sunglasses and eat away.
Look for wildlife
You can find wildlife everywhere on the beach. Dig into the sand and find crabs or look out over the ocean sea and watch as the sun hits the dolphins as they breach out of the water, an image that you are sure to never forget.
Drink beer and listen to music
And finally, one of life’s simplest pleasures. Crack open an ice-cold beer from your cool box, search for your favourite tunes on your streaming service of choice and listen with your friends and family on a Bluetooth speaker or put in your headphones and sing to yourself like no one is watching.
