This year the annual multi-stage bicycle race primarily held in Spain will have its official departure and the first stage in Malaga. Running from Saturday, August 25th to Sunday, September 16th, 2018, the Vuelta will be made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,271.4 kilometers.

The 73rd edition of ‘’La Vuelta a España’’ will be the Spanish tour’s 30th visit to the capital city of Malaga.
An Individual time trial will begin on Saturday, August 25th at a distance of 8 km in Malaga as the first stage. Organizers have chosen the starting point in Malaga the Centre Pompidou as an example of the organization's commitment to link sport, culture, and innovative outlets.
The second stage will be starting on the next day Sunday, August 26th in Marbella Avenida de las Naciones Unidas, in Puerto Banús to Caminito del Rey. A flat race with a distance of 163.9 km.

After Málaga, the peloton will travel to Granada, Almería, and Jaén, with an intermediate step through Murcia, before heading north. Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, which will host a second individual time trial of 33 km, Basque Country, Aragon and Catalonia, will be the next stops before facing the final stages of the edition, with a very hard final in two of the most demanding summits of the Principality of Andorra (Coll de La Rabassa and La Gallina).
The tour will end in Madrid capital, departing from Alcorcón and finish at the Plaza de Cibeles, passing before the Paseo del Prado, whose museum celebrates its second centenary this year.
