Food Review: Finca Besaya Restaurant
12-08-2014Located in a privileged spot on Marbella’s Costa del Sol in the foothills of the mountains, the stunning Finca Besaya offers an international cuisine. It certainly is one of the most interestingly decorated restaurant and stepping into it you feel as if you have entered a lavish villa stuck in time. Decorated with paintings and antiques lining, Finca Besaya features three storeys, and there is also a patio if you wish to dine under the stars.
There are three main dining areas at the Finca Besaya, the first being on the ground floor that has an enormous fireplace and bar and then upstairs you can choose from 'the blue room' or 'the library' that is filled of course with old books. i-Marbella ladies food review team decided to eat on their beautiful terrace outside. We started off with a Variety of sushi, Tuna Tataki with sesame and Carpaccio of Beef with Truffle Oil. All very light, perfectly seasoned and perfectly portioned starters for women. We also decided to taste the Foie Gras “Mi Cuit” and The chef’s Scallops Served with Beetroot and Pumpkin Puree. ‘Mi-cuit’ (meaning half cooked), refers to the foie gras being cooked whole, squashed together as a kind of terrine, rather than being boiled in a sealed container for two hours. Finca Besaya has amazing Foie Gras Mi Cuit and the raspberries add a nice fresh touch to it. And also the scallops combined with an interesting sauce was a nice taste surprise for all of us. The last two starters were our favourites, definitely recommend to try these.
The mains we chose were, Finca Besaya’s Baked Shoulder of lamb with cous cous, Finca’s famous Prime Cut Fillet of Beef on the stone served with 3 sauces, the Black pasta of the house with Royal King Prawns(a classic) and a Grilled filet of Sea bass with vegetables. None of the dishes were disappointing, but there were some that stood out. For example the way they cooked the shoulder of lamb, really did the meat proud - utterly incredible! Also the prime cut fillet of beed on the stone was really a main you can’t go wrong with. Quality meat and quality cooking. Every main course was amazing, the food just melted in the mouth!
Last but not least, we had some dessert. The Brownie and a Chocolate praline with creme anglaise were absolutely the best and sweetest way to end a memorable dinner. Service in Finca Besaya was really good, attentive without being obtrusive, they also have a good selection of wine.
And after the dinner make sure you we make your way to the bar that offers a relaxed atmosphere and is lively with conversation; the terrace is unbeatable for summer evenings. Finca Besaya’s facilities also cater for special events. Overall, the food in Finca Besaya is extremely refined and sophisticated and the setting is definitely one of a kind!
