Del Mar Restaurant Food Review30-07-2014
Del Mar is a haven for sophisticated beach goers, modern light décor with natural materials ooze elegant tranquility. An ideal venue for families, locals & luxury seeking travellers alike. i-Marbella decided to try the food in this beautiful place.
Together with the beautiful Saeko Hamada, we chose a beautiful July summer evening for our food tasting. The executive chef Thomas Stork was already waiting for us and had everything planned for a delicious dinner in Del Mar. We started off with a Ceviche with Aloe Vera which was very original, subtle and tasty! Then came the selection of Sushi and sashimi that looked incredible - they had made a flower shape out of the food! Incredible! After the sushi we were served two delicious sea food salads - Lobster and Melon Salad with Thai Dressing and Andalusian Salad with Shrimp. Both delicate and perfect, both taste and also in size.
We continued with sea food, having Mussels in White Wine and Shallot Sauce with French Fries as the first main. The white wine sauce was very light, such a great match with the mussels, making us lick our fingers. The most impressive dishes in our opinion were the Grilled King Crab Legs, Grilled Lobster with Lemon Mayonnaise, Jacket Potato and Vegetables and the Beef Sirloin with Bernaise Sauce. Complicated and expensive mains that were cooked to perfection and presented in a clean tasteful way.
The sweetest part of course were the desserts - Creamy Pavlova with Red Berries and a Lemon Pie. Both were extremely popular amongst the diners, very nice treat to end a fabulous night in Del Mar. The service in the restaurant is amazing, just like the sea view. They really take care of you and make you feel special and appreciated. Thank you Thomas and Rafa and the whole team of Del Mar for a memorable summer dinner in Del Mar, that will definitely be one of many!
If you are a client of the famous restaurant & lounge Suite in Puente Romano, you will definitely know Rafael Campaña. He has been working in Suite for already 10 years and now this summer he is waiting for you to breakfast, lunch or dinner in the beautiful seaside restaurant Del Mar. Del Mar is an elegant place for breakfast, lunch or dinner and every Sunday 15.00 they have the talented Gitane band playing soothing flamenco chill out music. And this Sunday there is also a Fashion Show by Patricia Nahmad.
The Beach Club offers an interior bar & restaurant with modern light décor, where natural materials add to the relaxed atmosphere. The large shaded deck, directly on the sand, allows guests to enjoy long lunches with family & friends. Large day beds and individual sunbeds with waiter service all day add to the deluxe beach ambience.
The Del Mar kitchen has a diverse menu starting each day with fresh & healthy breakfast of locally produced fruits, cheeses & bread from our bakery. Lunch & Dinner is an eclectic mix of Oriental & Southern Spanish gastronomy featuring a variety of freshly caught fish served in many ways; sushi, ceviche, tartar or more traditional Andalucían style, such as chargrilled sardines. A large selection of salads & meats from the grill complete the menu.
Fresh fruit cocktails prepared by our experienced barman plus a large selection of wine chosen by our sommelier compliment the cuisine and can be sipped into the magical early hours, under the twinkling stars. Hotel Puente Romano’s Beach Club and restaurant ‘Del Mar’, will be open from 9 am for light breakfast; 1 pm for lunch on the shaded deck or direct to your sun bed; coffee & snacks throughout the day; evening dining from 8 pm until midnight with cocktails being served into the magical early hours.
