Dr. Kaye from Ocean Clinic gave us an exclusive interview about the ageing and breast implant procedure. These are two of the most asked procedures nowadays. 

1. When is the best time to start having minor facial cosmetic embellishment procedures for women? 

It depends on lifestyle, genetics, Skin type and where do you live, but biologically from 30 onwards we have some kind of physical degradation

Please Name three first series of steps and approximate age:

a) 30- 35 Skincare, Botox, light peelings, Fillers

b) 35-45 medium peels, minor surgical procedures like eyelid lifts, Fat grafting or liposculpture of neck

c) 45- 50 Mini Facelifts, brow lifts, Fat grafting 

2. Do breast implants need to be replaced, and how often? Is this the same procedure like the one when the implants were first inserted? 

There is no shelf date, but implants age and the body around ages as well, so there will be changes in the aesthetic result after many years- more than 80 % of the implant changes are for aesthetic reasons, not for implant defects.

From my experience, 10 – 15 years is a good average number of years, but I tell all my young patients that they will have at least 1 or 2 implant changes in their lives.

3. Is there are any connection between breast implants and breast cancer?

No, not between breast cancer and implants- there have been some rare cases of lymphoma of the implant capsule which may be connected with implants, but it is a newly investigated field, so far only 300 cases have been described in worldwide in Millions of implant cases.

4. Is there a particular time of the year (winter, perhaps) to have the breast augmentation surgery?

It is a surgery which can be comfortably done during the whole year, as scars are small and only a bra has to worn afterward.

5. From your experience what is the best size? What implant size are adequate and provide the most natural feeling? 

That depends on body shape and breast type- any implant should respect anatomy and harmony of the body – implants which are too big for the frame will cause damage to tissues and will have less favourable long term results
