Celebrating the summer solstice or how is popularly known, 'La Noche de San Juan' is marked by the burning of colossal bonfires or ‘júas’. This time, one of the most magical night's celebrations in Andalusia occurred on June 23rd, 2018 at Besaya Beach near Puerto Banus just a few meters from the beach.
Every year in Spain thousands of people celebrate together the summer solstice, it's considered a symbolic and spectacular night in which people get together to enjoy the burning of colossal bonfires or ‘júas’ together with fireworks.

Noche de San Juan (Saint John's Eve) When the sun sets on 23 June, Saint John's Eve, is the eve of celebration before the Feast Day of Saint John the Baptist. San Juan is a festival celebrated on June 23rd, a magical night that welcomes the summer season.

San Juan's night tradition is a sign of revelers drinking and dancing around the blazing infernos well into the night. It might seem an odd thing to do in this heat to add more fire to the flame. But at least the sea is nearby to cool them down afterward.

As a tradition, several people write down their hopes for the coming year on a piece of paper and thrust it into the fire triumphantly. for good luck during the season.
