How have people's behaviour, habits of tourists changed concerning Covid-19?
24-07-2021How have people's behaviour, habits of tourists changed concerning Covid-19?
We did research tourist behaviour changes in Marbella, Malaga and Costa del Sol areas in Spain.
People are still wearing a mask and are afraid of mixing with many people.
According to Marbella Tour guide Pascal Frulli, last week interviewed by Marbellahoy.es! Pascal Frulli has first-hand experience in Marbella Old Town who every day checks how some tourist habits have changed in just one year :
A lot of people, up to 70 per cent who continue to wear it. People have a particular fear. So when there are group trips, people are afraid to mix with many people.
Marbella Tour guide Pascal Frulli
The guide recalls that, days ago, "I was talking to a transport entrepreneur who told me to reinvent himself, and he was buying smaller vehicles for smaller groups. Last week the first cruise came when one of these characteristics comes there are about 3,000 cruise passengers, but at this moment, they are arriving with 600 or 700 passengers, who on excursions have to go in bubble groups, which are called, of no more than 15 people".
Another dynamic that Pascal has observed in recent months is that "we no longer have tour operators who constantly call us, now we have to look for groups ourselves. For example, we are doing a sweep of hotels and residential areas, with a catalogue so that clients can take a tour of the Old Town. One option that we have prepared is to sail out of Puerto Banús using the catamaran. With 30 euros, we give him navigation, an hour and a half visit and a return ticket so that the client can return whenever he wants," he explained.
They have been, he says, "difficult times", and they continue to be, but the professional believes that "the prospects are good", due to the solidity of the destination, but he frequently repeats a maxim: "you have to reinvent yourself", that is, adapt to the new circumstances, those of now and those that could come in a future that takes less and less time to arrive.
This is not all!
Unstable situations and confusing information like Mayroness Ángeles Muñoz try to
1) balance registered citizens and actual population do not exceed infected rates
2) like 1-year-old news come up again about closing hotels.
!!!Ángeles Muñoz: "#Marbella is not closing the hotel shop starting tomorrow; it's old news that's moving through RRSS, it's a BULO".
Ángeles Muñoz: "We continue to reiterate that it is necessary to change the criteria for calculating the incidence rate of #Covid19 and to adjust it to the actual population in tourist municipalities during the high season.
It is unfair and damages our municipality to calculate this rate based only on the resident population. In the case of #Marbella, this population is tripled in summer, so an incidence of 1.000 cases over 100.000 inhabitants is incorrect, considering that there are currently around 400.000 people in the city and not 150.000 who are the ones who are censed".
From the city council of #Marbella, we will send documentation to the @andaluciajunta to calculate the incidence of #Covid19 on the actual population of Marbella, which is around 400.000 inhabitants according to water consumption and garbage collection.
This is a fair claim that is sustained by reliable parameters and objectives that have been used before.
In a tourist town like ours, where the productive sector has risen after facing very harsh conditions, it is necessary to provide truthful data that does not call for deception and negatively impact the middle of the high season.
WHO will still travel?
People are better off staying home than travelling in uncertain circumstances.
Also, returning home tests are costly, and the requirements for self-isolation are very long. For example, when you go to the UK, you have to do 2 (two) tests, one test costs 210 pounds, and you still have to stay home for 10 (ten) days.
The English who can work remotely would rather stay in Spain and become permanent residents.
Marbella destination has been mostly for tourism, so the local tourist doesn't spend as much as a weekend tourist who had four days non-stop party.
A high-quality nation has come to Marbella, who is more interested in health, sports and family life, which is good overall.
Many businesses and party venues, as well as hotels, restaurants need to reconsider their companies business plan and meet local needs. There are tourists, but their number has decreased significantly.
