What is Zumba?
Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts.Squats and lunges are also included.Zumba Fitness, an organization that sells Zumba videos and products, does not charge licensing fees to gyms or fitness centers.Approximately 14 million people take weekly Zumba classes in over 140,000 locations across more than 185 countries.
1. How did you start dancing? And teaching dance classes?
I started dancing in Denmark with Zumba in the summer of 2012. And this was the best thing I had tried in my life. So I started working in Fitness fresh in Odense Denmark and Butterfly Women in Odense.
2. Where did you study dancing?
Dance and rythm is my blood, since we start dancing very early in my country. But professionally I started with Zumba in 2012.
3. Where have you taught/or where are teaching classes now and what style?
I have taught in Fitness Place, Fitness Polideportivo pueblo arroyo de la miel, Fitness Acapulco in Benalmadena Pueblo, Fitness Felicitat, Fitness Body Shape, Fitness Sol Beach. Also in two events with Nikki and one time in Plaza La Mezquita. My style is Latino dance and international.. Merengue- salsa- bachata- cumbia— quebradita- Chacha- afro— soca and more…
4. How did you find Zumba? Why do you like it?
A friend introduced me to this fantastic world. And I love it because I like dancing. I love sharing it with people, cheering, laughing, watching people have fun and smile once they are burning the calories the fun way with Zumba. Zumba makes me smile and I love that. I am so happy to be a Zumba instructor.
5. Why is Zumba different from other styles?
Zumba meets all the requirements to be an effective and fun workout. It combines dance with the music, and does so in different ways. In toning, in water, sitting in chairs, ABC programs, glutes and cardio. Best of all, it's fun. It’s perfect!
6. What has Zumba given you?
Security, spontaneity, strength, sensitivity, real dreams that are being gradually worked on. Also independency, ambitions and above all much happiness.
7. What does dancing mean to you? What other sports do you do?
Dancing means to me - Expression, feeling, sharing, happiness, energy, health, travel to another state and a state of freedom. I do also Pilates and kettleball at home.
8. Why should people come to the dance marathon? or why should they learn Zumba?
It will be spectacular to participate in the i-Marbella Dance Marathon, because you will forget everything bad your life, you will disconnect and burn calories in a fun way. You will smile and release stress that invades your body, you will also meet new great people and it will be a great event!
9. Does dancing also keep you fit? How do you keep fit?
Yes of course, dancing is a method of exercise which burns more calories than running and combining it with fitness and toning exercises is the perfect combination. And more importantly it is fun! But to stay fit I also eat healthy and do sports at least three times a week.
10. What are your plans for the fall and winter?
To work, to be strong and positive, to meet my goals and continue to work well on my own with seniors. Also I would like to make some events and to get a local to have my own group to my Zumba classes.
