Free eye health seminar in Fuengirola
27-09-2013On Wednesday 2nd October there will be two informative talks taking place at Specsavers Opticas in Fuengirola as part of their Eye Health Day offering attendees practical and interesting information about common ocular conditions glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration and giving general advice and information.
On Wednesday 2nd October Specsavers Opticas in Fuengirola will be holding an informative free event discussing the common ocular diseases glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration and offering general advice and information. The event will take place in the store on Avenida Ramόn Y Cajal 6 (near the bus station). At 11.30 and 12.30 there will be two talks on the causes, symptoms and risk factors of these conditions as well as prevention and treatment methods. The opticians will be on hand to answer questions and conduct free eye tests throughout the day.
Store Director Amrik Sappal explains why they have decided to arrange this event. “We believe that prevention is better than cure when it comes to eye health and this is certainly the case with glaucoma. If glaucoma is identified early it can be treated via eye drops, but as vision loss occurs gradually, it is often only recognised at an advanced stage. Unfortunately vision loss from glaucoma cannot be recovered, so it’s vital that it is identified early. We hope by providing these free talks we can help people spot the signs of glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration, understand how to protect themselves and get treatment before their vision is impaired. ”
In addition to the talks, there will be the opportunity to take a look at the newest addition to the optician’s tool box, the Digital Retinal Camera, which now forms part of a standard Specsavers’ eye test and gives the optician the ability to view and record the back of the eye. This is an important health check which can detect other ocular conditions. At this event guests are invited to have a photo taken of the inside of their eye and enjoy some refreshments.
Visitors are being asked to bring their unwanted glasses to the event as part of a collection for Lions Club Spain. These glasses will be donated to people who cannot afford optical care in Africa and India and really make a difference to their lives.
Call 952 467 837 to reserve your place on the 2nd October. If you are unable to attend the seminar but want information about eye health and a comprehensive free eye test, pop into the store or visit www.specsavers.es.
