Inspired by humanity
This initiative, inspired by humanity, was born by Sacha Jafri's belief in the opportunity for positive change that the COVID-19 pandemic represents for humanity.
The work of art commemorates what isolation and connection mean in the eyes of a child in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak as Sacha Jafri has invited millions of children around the world to interact, asking all those who want to participate to send in their artwork via www.Humanity-Inspired.com.
Inspired by the emotions and expressions of these children, Jafri will incorporate these 'works of art' in the first layer of his canvas (the soul), within huge circular portals that will serve as windows to portray a better future from the perspective of a child. - 'Windows to a better world'. Jafri's painting will be the world's largest social, artistic, and philanthropic initiative in history.
Created in the Atlantis hotel, in the ballroom of The Palm, having made it the largest artist studio in the world for a period of 24 weeks (March-September), the creation of Jafri will be completed on October 10, 2020.
Jafri's finished painting (at just under 2000 square meters and the size of 2 football fields from one end to the other) will be unveiled to the world at Hotel Atlantis, The Palm in November 2020. It will then be exhibited at the most iconic places in the UAE and in the world's top museums. Following the tour, 'The Journey of Humanity' will divide the work into 60 individually numbered, signed, catalogued and framed canvases to be auctioned and sold during a royal gala dinner and charity auction in December 2020, in collaboration with Global Gift Foundation and Dubai Cares, at Atlantis, The Palm (Dubai - UAE).
The auction will also welcome buyers from around the world via live streaming to more than 140 countries. Each selected bidder will own a piece of the largest painting ever created on canvas and, more importantly, a piece of history.
Maria Bravo, founder and president of the Global Gift Foundation, proud to be part of this ambitious humanitarian project, said:
“This wonderful collaboration is the culmination of many years of relationship between Sacha Jafri and the Global Gift Foundation and will not only mark a before and after in the history of philanthropy, but it will also change the lives of millions of families and children in vulnerable situations around the world.
Our goal is to be able to support thousands of national and international charitable projects that desperately need help and be able to reach the most remote and poorest regions of the world.
We have always firmly defended the idea that together we are better and to be able to join forces again with Sacha Jafri, UNICEF and Dubai Cares with such an important common goal is an honour and a privilege in such critical moments that we are living. "
When asked about his inspiration for this ambitious initiative, Sacha Jafri said:
“After a conversation with UNICEF earlier in the year, my eyes were opened to the fact that approximately 385 million children live in extreme poverty around the world and these children are twice as likely to die in childhood. These numbers have nearly doubled in the past four months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has affected every community in the world and has claimed the lives of thousands of people, but it has also changed our way of thinking, and this means that we have a window of opportunity for change.
"Humanity Inspired" aims to be a catalyst for true social change through the HEARTS, MINDS AND SOULS of the world's children - a steppingstone to a better future for ALL humanity. My goal is to connect the world and reconnect Humanity with ourselves, with each other, and ultimately with "The Soul of Earth."
Timothy Kelly, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Atlantis Dubai, said:
"This initiative, which is aligned with our ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts, will achieve many milestones while generating much-needed support for children, as well as generating positive change in the lives of many."
Talal Omar, Director - MENA at Guinness World Records, said:
“We are delighted to be working with Sacha Jafri in support of his truly inspired project and his landmark painting 'The Journey of Humanity'. We are equally delighted to be working with the Global Gift Foundation, Dubai Cares and Atlantis The Palm together with the "Humanity Inspired" partners involved in this world record attempt, because supporting the community is at the core of what we do. "
Speaking on the importance of this charitable initiative, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, Executive Director of Dubai Cares said:
“The COVID-19 pandemic forced 192 countries to close schools and universities, affecting more than 1.5 billion school-age children and youth, representing around 90% of the world's student population. I am confident that this inspiring initiative will help us address the impact of this pandemic on education by promoting access to connectivity and equipping children and youth around the world with the digital resources they need to continue their education. "
