The City Council Recognizes the Philanthropic work of María Bravo by Giving her Name to Square in Estepona

Estepona honors María Bravo for a life dedicated to improving that of others August 2021
On the 25th of August 2021, Estepona City Council with The Mayor of Estepona Mr José María García Urbano honours María Bravo for a life dedicated to improving that of others. Maria Bravo is the founder of the Global Gift Foundation who helps people, children in need all over the world!
The City Council recognizes the philanthropic work of María Bravo, dedicating a square to her where she lived in Estepona, Costa del Sol, Spain.
The new urban space, located between El Cid and Goya streets, has been named in honour of the founder and director of the Global Gift Foundation.
The mayor of Estepona accompanied María Bravo along with other personalities who were friends of the honoree in an act that consumed emotion and gratitude.
The Estepona City Council has recognized the philanthropic commitment of Maria Bravo, Estepona's neighbourhood since age 7, and founder of the Global Gift Foundation. A nonprofit foundation that creates positive change in the development, well-being, health, and social inclusion of the most vulnerable features Casa Angeles, a day centre for special needs children, giving access to children and families across the Sunshine Coast. The Foundation also advocates gender equality, education and professional development.
The public recognition took place on the 25th of August 2021 in Estepona through the discovery of a plaque that gives its name to Plaza Maria Bravo, located between Goya and El Cid streets, near where the actress lived as a child.
Wrapped up by personalities of all kinds and by a large number of Estepona residents, María Bravo received on the 25th of August 2021 the tribute that so many years dedicated to promoting a positive change in the lives of others have caused;

María Bravo was accompanied by neighbours, family, friends and by actors Gary Dourdan and Amaury Nolasco. She was very excited and grateful for the recognition. "I have grown up here; I have gone to school in these streets, and I have been with my friends, and after being in the United States for 31 years, I have found an Estepona even more beautiful than I remembered, and that is thanks to the mayor", assured María Bravo. "
"The work I do, I do as an obligation because I can and because all of us who can help, must do it," added Bravo, who valued "recognition of a job and good work and the good intentions of people." "I am enormously proud to say that I am from Estepona; I feel very Spanish, very Andalusian, very Estepona and very Malaga", she concluded.

The Opening of Casa Ángeles in July 2021 has been a great boost in the social coverage of the town and is the first safe and functional space for the development and care of children with special needs.

The afternoon began with the visit of the Mayoress of Marbella Ángeles Muñoz to Cása Ángeles where María Bravo was; the actor Amaury Nolsaco and the painter Sacha Jaffri. There was a visit to the space during which the mayor was able to see first-hand the high level of the facilities and their already existing progress with some of the children whose families come looking for a safe space and focused on the development of their children.

Later, in Estepona, the event took place; between Goya and El Cid streets, where the discovery of the María Bravo plaque was carried out. The moment was very intense thanks to the emotion of those present who have seen both their work and results recognized.

All that palpable positivity and joy in the environment were unable to contain Maria's emotion as she walked the streets of her childhood. "I was born in Malaga because there was no hospital here but I grew up here, in these streets; I went to school right behind there and I remember perfectly running through these streets with my sister and my friends."
Sacha Jaffri; International plastic artist and one of the greatest collaborators of the Global Gift Foundation, dedicating a few words to María.
The Mayor of Estepona Mr José María García Urbano has highlighted the solidarity facet of Maria Bravo and her bond with the Costa del Sol and the city of Estepona, where she spent her youth to embark on her professional career. ′′ The city that saw you grow shows in this act its satisfaction and appreciation for the effort you're making to help the most vulnerable ", he pointed out.

"A collaboration between the public and the private is imperative when it comes to encompassing and executing all the processes necessary for the development of Malaga" declared María Bravo in relation to the agreement of the Global Gift Foundation for the Malaga de Moda project supported by the Diputación de Málaga. This agreement, which is expected to last each year, will allow us to join forces in order to promote and develop both fashion and professionals in the area.

What is the Global Gift Foundation
The Global Gift is a non-profit charity whose objective is to create positive changes in the development, welfare, health care and social inclusion of the most vulnerable.
