Dennis and Lorena Ribeiro are Getting Twins22-01-2016
In recent years, twins have become more common, but still, how does it feel to find out you're expecting not one, but two children at the same time?
Marbella celebrities Dennis and Lorena Ribeiro are getting twins. The due date is March 16, 2016, but as twins usually never go all the way to 40 weeks, they might come around week 36 or 37, i.e., end of February.
How did it feel to find out that you are getting twins?
It was a mixture of feelings. One side of me was very happy and feeling definitely double blessed, the other side very shocked, with the concerns of a future mother, but specially a mother of two at the same time... How is that going to be? Am I going to be able to manage it? How is it going to be carrying two babies? ...All of these questions that usually start popping in one's mind. However, my happiness was so much bigger than the shock that in a couple of weeks it was all fine, just smiles!
How much has your life (and your husband's life) changed so far?
So far no big changes, except in my body and my exercise routine... The pregnancy was planned, we really wanted to start a family. We started preparing ourselves almost a year before, the mind set was already there, the house was also kind of organised for it, but as a woman I guess you are never ready for the changes that your body will endure, specially with twins. I went from 57 kg when I found out that I was pregnant, to 68 kg at the moment on week 31. Is that much for twins? No, but it makes a huge difference when you are pretty much carrying a very considerable weight in your belly, the back definitely suffers from that. However, in the end, it's all worth it! We are expecting bigger changes after they are born, but we are super excited about it and can't wait for that!
How do you stay in shape during pregnancy?
I have worked out my whole life. My lifestyle includes minimum 1 hour of exercise daily, and I tried not to change that during the pregnancy. I took it easy during the first 3 months but after that I was back in the gym doing long walks on the treadmill and exercising with my own body weight. At some point that brcame a bit uncomfortable as, unfortunately, I've suffered from nausea my whole pregnancy, so I decided to do yoga, which I continue doing until today along with swimming classes, which are also great. I hope to be able to continue exercising until the day before the delivery.
Do you have any diet tips for pregnant women?
I have never been a big fan of diets, I believe in balance and in re-educating yourself to eat healthy according to your needs. Each person is different, which makes it hard to give tips. I would say I allow yourself a bit more during pregnancy, but don't make that an excuse to eat whatever you want as it's not healthy for the mother or the baby. Balance, i.e., proteins, carbs, and good fats throughout the day, always aiming for the best quality; this way, you will have some room to eat a dessert once in a while without feeling guilt. Fruits and vegetables should constitute a major part of your daily food intake to get all essential vitamins that will make your baby healthy. 300 extra calories a day should be enough to get you to the end of the pregnancy in good health. That's basically what I do.
