10 minutes with Marian Roman18-03-2010
Marian Roman, 38 and manager of Marbella's Nikki Beach talks to i-marbella about his life here in one of Europes top holiday destination.
Where do you come from originally?
I come from Romania.
What is your profession?
I am the general manager of Nikki Beach.
How long have you lived on the coast?
I have lived here almost 10 years.
What brought you to the area?
Business, lifestyle, family…. Both business and lifestyle brought me to this area!
What attracts you most about the southern Spanish lifestyle?
Spanish lifestyle attracted me because of the fact that everything down here is international, for example people, food, restaurants and also that in this multi-cultural environment you never get bored!
Describe a few ways how you spend your time here?
Work, recreation, shopping, socialising, friends and family… Most of my time I spend at Nikki Beach working, but I also enjoy good wine&dine experiences, spending time with my friends and I recently took up running in the mornings on the beach.
What are your hobbies?
I am very passionate about football.
Do you have a favourite area or part of the coast?
My favourite part of the coast is probably Elviria, which is a bit more relaxed and natural than Marbella or Puerto Banus. The thing that attracts me about this area is that it's all year around busy with people.
Do you holiday in other destinations now that you have relocated to a luxury resort? If so, where?
I really like the warm climate and the only time I go on holidays is the winter. Then I usually go to Miami, St. Barths, or the Bahamas.
Name a few of your favourite restaurants or cafes here.
I don’t have a favourite restaurant down here, but to name a few that I enjoy going to are Sukho Thai on Golden Mile Marbella, and Sushi des Artistes where I really like the ambience of the place.
Do you have a favourite special event or celebration which takes place here?
Although I'm working there myself, the best and most memorable event for me is the Grand White Opening Party at Nikki Beach. With that, I celebrate the start of another great summer.
What is good to do in springtime in Marbella?
Because springtime is more with a relaxed atmosphere in Marbella, then it is good just to enjoy a day time experience in a nice beach restaurant, catch some sun and zip cocktails with your friends.
