Reorganisation of the Picasso Museum in Málaga

The museum has acquired 72 new works from the Málaga born painter.
The Picasso Museum in the Buenavista Palace in Málaga deserves a new visit from today, as 72 new works are hanging on its walls. 2.75 million € has been spent on the 72 works, 22 drawings and 46 prints, with four illustrated books which show the different periods and artistic techniques of the artist.
It takes the Málaga collection to 233 works. From now until July 20th visitors can see 117 works which highlight the different stages of the artist’s work.
Museum curator, José Lebrero, said the new reorganization of the museum offered a new approach to appreciate the work of Picasso, ‘in an organized and sufficiently open way so that each spectator can become their own interpreter, and in some way be the author of what they see’.
A second phase in the reorganization of the museum comes after July20, and 43 new works ceded from the Almine and Bernard Ruiz Picasso Foundation will be on show from October.
Meanwhile the recent Frantisek Kupka exhibition at the Picasso Museum in Málaga attracted 46,000 visitors, an average of 743 a day.
