IRONMAN comes to Marbella!
Only 5 days left to the IRONMAN 70.3 event in Marbella, Spain. The new race will be held in Marbella, located in Spain’s “Costa del Sol” area. A beautiful seaside town with a population of 140,000 in the autonomous community of Andalusia.
Marbella celebrates its first edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 on Sunday, "a test that will reinforce the image of the city in the world" and one of the most important international circuit and involving 2,500 athletes.

Marbella will be the first one fortunate to host the IRONMAN 70.3.
Many athletes who wish to test their endurance and strength will have a place in an event thought for them.
Marbella has been chosen due to its famous crystal-clear beaches and extraordinary terrain flanked by the ocean and the mountains, it is one of the most beautiful locations in Spain, boasting one of the most luxurious marinas across the world - Puerto Banús - as well. This Andalusian city will be a spectacular host for athletes, as well as their families and friends. All participants will find a wide range of activities in the region and a perfect climate to make the most of their stay.
Athletes will be able to swim in the Mediterranean waters. After the transition, located in the legendary ''Avenida de las Naciones Unidas'', they will cycle the 90 km of the bike course through memorable settings like Puerto de Ojén, ascending along the “Caracolillos” road. They will cross different hometowns like Onda, Coín, and Cártama. Athletes will then ride back to Marbella to enjoy the last 21 km run by the seafront promenade, surrounded by cheering spectators as they strive for the finish line - right on the sand of Puerto Banús.

It's a great pride for #Marbella to celebrate the sporting event IRONMAN this Sunday with which our city continues to be shown our image abroad. Good luck to the 2,500 participants who will be delighted with the agenda and with the unbeatable conditions of our environment.
At the presentation in Puerto Banús the mayoress Muñoz, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Javier Mérida, the director of Ironman in Spain and Portugal, Agustín Pérez, and the directors of the race and the organization, Álvaro Lucena and Pablo Vázquez, respectively, stated that "it is of a city project that transcends the purely sporting plan ".
Lucena explained that the participants in the same, which will have 700 volunteers, will take the exit to swim 1,900 meters and, after the transition, located on the Avenue of the United Nations, will travel 90 kilometers by bicycle through the port of Ojén, ascending along the road of the 'caracolillos', and touring places such as Monda, Coín and Cártama. Finally, the athletes will return to Marbella to travel 21 kilometers on foot along the Paseo Marítimo to finally reach the finish line on the beach of Puerto Banús.
The single-lap 1,900m in the Mediterranean Sea starts and finishes on the amazing Levante beach of Puerto Banús.
The single-loop 90 km starts in the famous “Gold Mile” before crossing through the city of Marbella and rising the Ojén Port through this picturesque location and conquering the legendary “caracolillos”. Athletes will race through Monda, Coín, and Cartama before returning to Transition in Puerto Banús.
The two-lap Run course will take place along the legendary promenade of Marbella supported by the fans who will accompany the athletes to the Finish Line located in the sand of Puerto Banús Beach.
