On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the Nobu hotel in Marbella and Daniel Shamoon hosted an incredible Charity event, a gala dinner dedicated to raising funds over 50 000 € for the Cat Cay Medical Foundation, which works to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

To support the people of Bahamas, associations from different parts of the world have been responsible for raising funds and the people of Marbella have wasted no time, in The Bahamas relief charity dinner, organized by Daniel Shamoon, over 140 Marbella citizens helped raise more than 50000 € in support of this noble cause.

And so it happened, Bahamas Relief Charity Dinner charged 95€/person all which was added directly, and in 100%, to funds destined to rescue relief and recovery after the Bahamas disaster.

Hurricane Dorian is recognized as the greatest natural disaster in contemporary history and the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the Atlantic basin since 1935, as well as being the worst natural disaster to hit the Bahamas.

According to official figures, the damage caused to the Abacus Islands in its category 5 character and the Great Bahama Island between September 1 and 3 left a count of 58 deaths in the country and more than 600 missing.

On the other hand, the material damage amounts to seven billion dollars, being one of the most expensive natural disasters in history.

At the moment, 70,000 people in the Bahamas require humanitarian aid, according to the UN.

Philanthropist Daniel Shamoon owner of Puente Romano Group has begun to raise funds to help families affected by hurricane Dorian for Cat Cay Medical Clinic Foundation because they provide emergency relief on the ground.

As he stated when announcing the event "I will match every donation made! Please help me give hope to all the people displaced by the worst natural disaster in recent history to hit the Bahamas. Thank you!"

Besides, some structural problems keep harnessing the possibilities for the people at the Bahamas: 

• Damage to the airport and the harbour is blocking relief efforts
• Food, clean water, medicines are needed urgently
• Rescuers are reaching people on boats, jet skis
• Roofs ripped off many houses
• Floods have completely submerged many homes
• Huge damage to infrastructure, power cables
• Many people left homeless
