Sam Cameron's Marbella Nightlife Blog #4: An Interview with BIGSTAGE Sweden.09-03-2012
BIGSTAGE is an event company based in Solna (Stockholm, SWEDEN). The company who gave me the chance to break into this World and has enabled me to work with some of the biggest talents in the industry: Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, Eric Prydz, Avicii, Kaskade, Fedde Le Grand, just to name a few!
Who is BIGSTAGE? I am about to let you know!
1. How did BIGSTAGE start organizing events and parties? How long have they been doing it?
A nightclub in Stockholm gave us the opportunity of throwing a party and it woke up the interest in this industry. Since 2008.
2. Which has been the biggest so far?
Deadmau5 at Berns Stockholm in 2010. The scale of the production was such a surprise to people, including myself. So must say that one.
3. What is the hardest thing about creating an event?
The trickiest part is to build the relationship with the artists and managements. After that the hard part is to find venues that are good to work with. Ones you have that, keep them close.
4. What makes a party/event unforgettable?
To be able to go online 1 year after the show and see guests posting comments, pictures, videos on youtube etc. That makes an event memorable.
5. How do you choose which Artist/DJ when?
Always choose the artist based on what the crowd wants, not what you want. It is very easy to get dragged away by your passion.
6. What's the most important thing for BIGSTAGE when carrying an event?
Most important always is that the artist and the crowd have fun and makes the most out of it. We take in special care and consideration the level of production (Soundsystem, LEDs, Lighting, CO2, fire rains, laser robots... the more the better!). We think it's what makes the difference between a great party and an amazing party!
7. How is the nightlife scene in your eyes at the moment? Who’s throwing the best parties at the moment (besides you)?
So many different promoters and venues to choose from. Some really good Techno parties are being done in Sweden. Amazing Pool Parties in Las Vegas. Some big groundbreaking events will take place this summer in unexpected places.
8. When the event is over how do you like to chill out?
At 10 in the morning you just want to sleep.
9. Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
There have been many funny moments, and some I can not bring out publically! But, on Mark Knight's daytime event at Nikki Beach, which was supposed to end around 12 at night, we had organized an after-party for it with some friends. We had been working since 9am, and after a long day and quite a few drinks under the 38C, we fell asleep at around 8pm! I think around 20-25 friends turned up at our doorstep begging for that after-party!
10. What advice would you give to up and coming DJs/Promoters?
For DJs, stay focused and network. It´s the guys that are in the right place at the right time that make it. There are thousands of talented people out there that never get that big break.
11. Which artists have you worked with so far?
Kaskade, Norman Doray, Funkagenda, Eric Prydz, Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Martin Solveig, Tocadisco, Dirty South, Pete Tong, Deadmau5, John Dahlbäck, Bob Sinclar, Fedde Le Grand, Dubfire, Mark Knight, AN21, Max Vangeli, Adrian Lux, Henrik B, Avicii, Roger Sanchez, Albin Myers, Johan Wedel, Nic Fanciulli.
12. Is there anyone you haven't worked with and you would love to do so?
Yes, Tiësto. But we hope to work with him soon!
13. Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
The sense of humor at BIGSTAGE is always present. The question reminded me of this video! :D
14. What are your plans for the summer?
Currently we are planning for several BIG things. Our main focus will be a new big club opening in Marbella that will turn a lot of heads. Looking forward to be working with them and the great team surrounding it. We are also looking forward of incorporating some daytime parties. They have been happening in Miami, Vegas, and Ibiza for the past few years, and I can't see why they haven't been made in Marbella yet!
Thank you BIGSTAGE for taking your time! If you would like to know more about them, please follow them and stay updated with their plans & upcoming events!
It is time for "Tune of the Week" and It had to be one of BIGSTAGE's favorite tracks "Epic" by Sandro Silva & Quintino signed under Tiësto's Record Label, Musical Freedom. Enjoy!
And to end up this weeks Blog, I have recorded a live Mixtape with some of my favorite tunes from the past 6 months. Some of you have been waiting for this one, so here it is!
