Karina Miller Blog 17: My first holiday in Mykonos was wow!!28-09-2019
Hi everyone :)
A few weeks ago I decided to finally go to Mykonos Greece. So I just wanted to tell you all about it.
It has been on my list for so long, I have no idea why I have never been but for whatever reason, I haven't. So finally the time had arrived to tick another destination off my list.
I'm sure that many of you have been to Mykonos, or maybe is it still on your list of places to go? If it isn't it might be a nice idea to add it.
Mykonos has become quite the spot for celebrities and socialites to hang out. Spending so many years in the Algarve and Marbella which are also hugely popular with celebrities, I just had to go and see what all this was about and I can tell you I was not disappointed.
I arrived at the Greco Philia Boutique Hotel and I was immediately blown away. Excuse the pun but actually, I was blown away in all senses of the word.
Mykonos is renowned for being a windy island but this was unreal. They were having a few days of particularly windy weather, but it was hot so I didn't mind.
It didn't take away my excitement to see the view from this hotel, it was stunning. The breathtaking view from the bar as I sip my complimentary welcome glass of wine, cannot be surpassed. It was so high up, I felt like on the top of the world as I looked out to sea. "Wow" is all I had to say to that.
My room wasn't ready yet, so one glass of wine led to another and another and by the time I got to my room I was wowing all over the place, Hahaha
The view from my room is exquisite, as I walk out to the balcony it's another huge wow.
I look right over the bay and I am in aw as the sun illuminates the sea as it dances and sparkles. This was possibly the most romantic room I had ever seen.
It was difficult to choose where to stay on the island as there is so much choice but this hotel was just delightful, the service was impeccable and the staff very friendly. The food was amazing and the Greek Yogurt for breakfast was insane. Lol
I would highly recommend the Greco Philia Boutique Hotel if you are thinking of a trip to Mykonos.
There is just something so special about boutique hotels that give your holiday experience a more personal touch.
For me this trip was all about the sunset, it was calling from afar and I just had to go and see it from Cavo Tagoo, which by the way exceeded all my expectations.
I had been longing to go to Cavo Tagoo for such a long time, I follow them on Instagram and am always mesmerized by the sunsets there.
I am feeling a little excited and giddy as I arrive at the door.
I sit outside, in the pool area and start to take it all in.
A glass of Lauren Perrier Rose in hand, I take a bite from the strawberry on top of the glass and smile as I start to get even more giddy with the thought of what is about to happen.
The music is cool and I start to sway as I people watch with what is now a permanent smile on my face. Feeling fluffy on the bubbles, I look out to sea and await my amazing sunset.
I can not believe I am here, this is day partying on another level.
As my moment began to arrive, the sky is inflamed in the most gorgeous orange, red you have ever seen.
The saxophone is playing as everyone is chilling on the beds in and around the pool.
The Instagram boyfriends and husbands are hard at work taking videos and pictures as everyone is indulging in this beautiful experience.
Another wow, wow, wow, it is spectacular and minds blowing how beautiful our planet can be.
As fabulous as these pictures are, it can not portray the real beauty of what I saw. One for the list if you haven't been.
I leave Cavo Tagoo feeling slightly euphoric and continue to the Buddha Bar at the Santa Marina hotel, another amazing experience awaits.
As I walk down the steps to the beach the ambience is wonderful as the infamous Buddha-Bar music sets the mood.
The restaurant is so elegant, the lights are dimmed and huge white vases catch my eye as I walk in. It is all in the open air, draped in white curtains facing the sea, with beautiful orchids on every table.
Right on the water, there is luxury yacht strategically placed in front of the restaurant, all lit up for effect. Once again I am transported to heaven, I am such a sucker for class and elegance.
I will always visit the Buddha bar whatever country I am in but this was like none I had seen before, I felt like a Greek goddess.
What a fantastic evening full of wonderful experiences, at that moment I was thinking just how fortunate I am to experience all these wonderful things, feeling grateful and blessed.
As I round up the holiday with another sunset at Little Venice and a walk around the enchanting streets of Mykonos, I am hooked and left wanting more.
Mykonos you are beautiful and I will be back for more.
