Karina Miller Blog 14: Survived the Winter in London, Spring is Now Here! 2019
21-03-2019So it has been a while since my last Blog. I apologize for that but I have been really busy on a new project. This blog will be a little longer than normal as I get you all up to date with what's going on in.
Hi Everyone, :)Apart from my little January ski holiday in Switzerland, travelling has not been on the agenda as I am now involved in a project that is keeping me in London at the moment.Exciting things are happening and I am dying to tell you all about it, but for now it has to stay secret and under wraps.I also have annoyingly acquired writers block. I have never actually known what that meant but now it has happened to me, I'm stuck in the 4th chapter of my new book. This is something that is pretty alien to me as normally when I put my fingers on the keyboard they do the walking. On my first book they were running and sprinting, I just couldn't stop. I guess having two different projects doesn't help when your mind is all over the place.
Apart from that little hiccup everything is just flourishing rather nicely.Last year I spent the first two months in Asia but this year I have done the UK and it really hasn't been so grueling.Living in a great place in London and hanging out with my sons has been nice and a welcomed change to the Winter in Marbella.I have lived in the gym and I can now see the benefits of a few months of continuous running and hard work. The Spa is a wonderful chill out zone and has kept me warm, relaxed and content through the winter months.
London seems to get away with any kind of weather as no one really cares. It is magical, so alive and full of diversity, continuously evolving, keeping us all wondering what's next.Bursting with life and never ending things to discover, enchanting and alluring us all into it's amazing vibe so we forgive and forget the weather.A never ending sea of fine restaurants. It would take you a full year of dining every night to get around them all. I am always discovering new places, the choice of restaurants seems to be endless.
Afternoon tea is also a delight in London and there are so many places to enjoy this very English tradition. My first afternoon tea was in the Shard, which was very pleasant and the views over London are spectacular. I have yet to experience the time honoured tradition at Claridges. You have to book way in advance apparently, but it is way up on my list and I intend to make it there soon.I'm not sure if I will ever get tired of London. I hear some people say that they live in London during the week and get away to the country at the weekends. All very nice but I don't see the need. With all the beautiful parks in London you wouldn't even know you are in the city sometimes.Needless to say I am a huge London fan, I feel alive when I am here. It's the best city in the world and the perfect base to keep coming back to.Over the winter months I have had some meetings in the Groucho Club in Soho. A private members club which plays host to celebrities and to some of the most creative people in London. Whilst having my own meetings I can't help but overhear some of brainstorming going on around me.Brilliant people coming up with amazing things, it's all so invigorating and inspiring.Just recently I also socialized at The Box, the notorious London club. Wow..... what a place and completely different experience.A regular haunt for celebs and a place for the weird and wonderful.'Dress Code Cool'. I mean literally if you are not cool enough you will be turned away. The door is super selective and although I am feeling pretty cool I don't get to see if I pass the test as I am lucky enough to be with my friend who knows the 'Maitre D'.We are honoured with the VIP treatment and ushered into the club past everyone.Kate Moss, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Emma Watson, Keira Knightley and Kendall Jenner have all been seen in The Box, but to name just a few.
The Box Cabaret club in London's Soho has established a reputation for being the most raucous show in town. "Do all the drugs you want. Do all the cocaine you can. Answer every fetish, for the great and the bad it's the place to be seen".
If that all sounds too much and a bit out there, then apparently it's not as extreme as it's sister club in New York. Who knows what goes on there, one can only imagine.Apparently to enjoy an evening in The Box you really have to have an open mind and expect to be astounded at the things that go on there.I have no idea what is going to happen, to be honest I am just bracing myself and am expecting the worst.I am curious and a little giddy in anticipation as I wait for the show to start. We are fortunate to have a great table with a fabulous view of everything going on and I am ready for this, 'bring it on'.
As the show unfolds I find it to be not quite as shocking as I had originally expected. Perhaps because after all it is only a Tuesday and apparently it is different every night. The show is just mesmerizing, it's like how do they come up with that stuff? I am completely captivated.Entertaining and stimulating, I am fascinated and my eyes are feasting on everything. This is an experience, not for the faint hearted.
Referred to as the 'the most sexually explicit show in town'.
The owner is surprisingly a 31 year old public- school boy and grandchild of the lyricist Oscar Hammerstein. He has described the club as place of 'mystique, mystery and sexual openness'. That it surely is and I thoroughly enjoyed it.After the first bottle of champagne, I take my phone out of my bag, as I'm blissfully unaware of the no phones rule. Slightly fluffy with all the champagne, I want to capture this moment.Within one second I am told to put my phone away or I will be fined £1000. Wow they were quick, I guess with so many celebs coming in they can not risk any pictures being taken. I am actually surprised they don't take your phone away on the door.
This is all going to have to stay in my memory, and that it will forever, I think I'm scared for life!!Hahaha, Oh.....My.....God.The Box is one hell of night out. I will definitely return and next time hopefully check it out at the weekend and see what goes on then.So like I said who cares about the weather when you have all this going on in London.
