After the Hollywood star, Antonio Banderas threw open the doors of his own theatre 'Soho Teatro' in his hometown of Malaga in southern Spain in November this year with an inaugural performance of "A Chorus Line" and winning the award as Best Actor for his work in 'Pain and Glory' at the Cannes Film Festival 2019. The Malagan, who will turn 60 in 2020, lives a moment of inflection in his career winning another Best Actor award this time, with the San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle.

"Pain and Glory"  is a Spanish drama film directed and written by Pedro Almodóvar. It stars Antonio Banderas, Asier Etxeandia, Penélope Cruz, Julieta Serrano, and Leonardo Sbaraglia. The film was released in Spain on 22 March 2019 to positive reviews.

Antonio Banderas is at a career-high with this performance, and Almodóvar's direction and vision are so beautiful, so striking.

After three decades of work in Hollywood, it has been a Spanish film that has put the malagueño at the gates of the Oscar. Just in case, Banderas has also decided to score its own goal this year without depending on other people's decisions.
