Starting from June 25th (Friday) the annual book fair of San Pedro (Feria del libro de San Pedro Alcantara) is a treat to all book lovers as it invites publishers, writers, authors and readers from all parts of Spain. The event will begin with the opening day speech by the writer Andres Trapiello at the Cultural Centre while this will remain open until July 11. And the next day there will be the traditional municipal band concert at 20.30 hours in the plaza de la Iglesia.
The Book Fair this year has some important developments: first, changing location, on the other, the great weight of literary parallels; there is a house of the Town Hall which will develop a workshop for bindery activities that the Delegation of Culture Values. On June 28, Monday, at 20.30, at the Cultural Centre San Pedro, one of the most outstanding journalists of Spanish publishing scene during the years of the Transition, Jose Luis Balbin, will be interviewed by Guadalupe Ruiz-Gimenez Former parliamentary European Parliament, with the theme “Keys to Transition.”
Besides, Municipal Delegation of Culture has also organised a reading workshop for children on Tuesday, 29th, at 8 pm. The workshop is again divided into different modules, according to the age of students: between 3-5 years, 5-7 and finally those between 7-9 years of age. In addition, there are a host of literary activities with the participation of writers and journalists like Fernando Rodriguez Lafuente, Rosa Villacastín and Jose Luis and Andrés Trapiello.
The participating libraries of this year fair are the Librerías Caracuel, Delta, O.C. (San Pedro Alcántara) and the María Zambrano (Velez-Málaga).
