Yoga Booty Ballet!
26-01-2010 Comments (1)Princess Studios in Puerto Banus are constantly organizing fantastic fitness workshops for fun, fearless, females and the recent Yoga Booty Ballet session was no different.
Inspiring, conscious choreography...
Gillian Clark was over from Los Angeles to perform her Yoga Booty Ballet workshop. The two hour session was probably one of the most complete work outs that I have ever done; truly for the mind, body and soul.
We started the class with Kriyas (cleansing, breathing exercises) and some Kundalini movements to loosen up and release the feminine energy. Then we created a ritualized setting to form our intentions which were carried all throughout the class (and hopefully back into our daily lives).
The class then moved up a tempo getting the heart rate up with some sexy dance moves and was followed by some ballet exercises and Hatha yoga poses and ended in a well deserved relaxation.
As promised, it was a fun, sexy and spirited workout. I have done countless classes from yoga to dance to martial arts with a multitude of different teachers over the years, and can honestly testify that Gillian is a fantastic teacher and consummate professional. Throughout she spoke in cadence, using her voice as an instrument to create softness, impact or strength while imparting bits of wisdom and information, be it on the history of yoga or carefully explaining why we were doing what we were doing. During the workshop she introduced a sense of humour, while her movements combined grace and sensuality with strength and power.
Yoga Booty Ballet was an inspiring class integrating many different disciplines in a balanced and fun way and I look forward to the next workshop when Gillian comes back in the summer.
Look out for more great classes at Princess Studios, located on the lower level of Marina Banus Shopping Centre (opposite El Corte Ingles) in Puerto Banus.
