The "Wish List" Gala Raised 11.990 Euros!
20-04-2010 Comments (2)
The first gala organized by the Wish List Fund was a tremendous success as the mums raised a grand total of 11.990 euros with the gala at La Meridiana last Saturday, including the donations by the German Lions, Children for Peace, Charity And Pleasure and SG Hambros Bank (Gibraltar) Limited and the photographers Johnny and Juan Carlos. Villapadierna donated an undisclosed amount to the Children´s Home directly.
The Wish List Fund is a group of international, multicultural mums of the Marbella area, who are helping the Children´s Home “Ciudad de los Niños” in Málaga on a voluntary basis. This is the first event and project the mums organized outside the Christmas holiday season. The project to renovate the bedrooms was born when a group of mums visited the Home and saw that the bedrooms of the youngest children (aged 2 till 12) were in need of refurbishment.
More than 150 guests attended the gala last Saturday at La Meridiana and the Wish List had the honour to welcome the mayoress of Marbella, Angeles Muñoz and her husband. To the sound of live violin music by Nayara the guests released the “Make your Wish” balloons, donated by La Meridiana. Also the magicians Josemi and El Chuli entertained the guests with card tricks and a fantastic interacting show.
Maurice Boland came straight from the Emily Ash Trust gala to host the Wish List raffle. A big thank you to all the sponsors of the raffle: Roadshow EU, Club La Costa, hotels Villa Padierna, Sol Melia Don Pepe, Holiday World; restaurants: La Meridiana, Kamakura, Mc Café, Suite; fashion: Alta Moda and Missoni; decoration: Cachemir and Tiara Diseño, skincare: Kiehl´s and NuSkin and golf Alferini.
Maurice invited WOW factor finalist Becky Tate to sing at the Wish List gala, who moved the crowd with her amazing voice and performance. Becky Tate, Natasha Romanov who brought her catchy Bossa Nova song which is the title song of the upcoming movie “La Ambiciosa II” by our patron Oscar Horacio and our beautiful and generous patron Saeko Hamada were given flowers donated by Cachemir decoration.
In return for all her help to “Ciudad de los Niños”, the Wish List will support the charity work Saeko is doing at the San Roque Children´s Home “Casa Abril”, by donating the proceeds of the upcoming ladies lunch.
“Thank you” to the sponsors of the renovation project: Yorkshire Linen who is donating all the soft furnishings and Web Color Spot who is donating the paint. If any trade person or company would like to help by donating free materials or labour for the renovation please contact the Wish List, Darren at Web Color Spot or Steph and Julie at Yorkshire Linen and we will co-ordinate the efforts.
The mums are also organizing visits to the Home, so that persons, who are interested in helping the Home, can see for themselves what it is all about.
The main objective of the Wish List is to raise awareness that the Children´s Home is relying on local support, as the subsidies by the Junta de Andalucia are only covering the costs of staffing and food. Looks like they have been hijacked by "Marbella personalities" Why no mention of the women who started this? Not Saeko, Romanov, Oscar H etc!
