Still no solution for Malaga prostitutes
04-05-2011Comments (2)
Prostitution continues to be a problem in Malaga despite the new law regulating the activity which came into effect four months ago. The main problem is that the prostitutes have not been provided with a different place to go where they and their clients will not be fined.
The law bans sexual acts in public areas, as well as offering, requesting, negotiating and accepting sexual services in the street located less than 200 metres from schools, children’s play parks, residential areas or anywhere else where commercial activity is carried out.
The fines can range from €750 and €1,500.
The Junta de Andalucia has banned them from going to a plot opposite the Guadalhorce Sewage Plant as it is a protected natural area.
Although a solution has not been found, both parties have been collaborating and have shown a positive attitude, although many of the prostitutes remain at the Guadalhorce Industrial Estate because they say they need to earn a living but they are still being fined for their activity in the area.
There have been almost 240 reports against the prostitutes and their clients.
