The snow comes to Spain - traffic and weather warnings have been issued

Civil protection have activated their Snow Plan as an Atlantic front crosses the country from west to east, and the Ministry for the Interior have asked drivers not to use their cars in the most affected areas in the centre and SE of the country, and on the accesses to the large cities.
If you have to travel by road you are asked to take special care and be on the lookout for black ice, and to inform yourself of road conditions before departure. Drivers are also reminded to travel with tyre chains and to have a full tank. Warm clothes and a mobile phone with a replacement battery or car charger are also suggested.
If you do get isolated or need help, the recommendation is to inform the authorities of your position and stay inside the vehicle with the heating on, but changing the air from time to time. Check too that there is no snow or anything else blocking the exhaust pipe.
AEMET state meteorological agency says the snow is affecting the Valencia region, Castilla-La Mancha, the Murcia region, Madrid region in the sierra and Andalucía where the heaviest falls are forecast for Almería, Jaén and Granada. In the last two there are orange alerts for snow with signifies an accumulation of some 20 cms.
Asturias, Cantabria, Palencia, Burgos, La Rioja, Ávila, Segovia, the Madrid Sierra, Soria, Zaragoza, Teruel, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Albacete and Almería are also on snow alert, but to a smaller depth.
Low pressure over the north of Africa will continue Monday to bring Easterly winds over the eastern third of the mainland.
Seven provinces are on Orange Alert for heavy snow for Monday – Jaén, Granada, Almería, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia and Castellón. The snow line is between 700m and 1,100m, and 1,200 on the Baleares.
Winds moderate with strong intervals, westerly along the Alboran coast and E or NW in the rest of the Mediterranean coast, Baleares, and Canaries. Weak to moderate N winds in the rest of the SE of the mainland.
Outlook
The situation will improve across the country during Tuesday with the snow line climbing to above 1,000-1,200m.
