Peter Jack gives out tips how to become rich and stay at the top!
02-02-2012 Comments (1)Peter Jack (60) comes from England, but the last 30 years he has been travelling between Marbella. Peter is a business and performance coach and he has won and lost millions.
What do you like about Marbella?
I love Marbella, because it is very European and international, many different nations are represented here. There are so many things to do here throughout the year and of course, normally the weather is so conducive to a happy and healthy lifestyle.
What hobbies do you have?
I play paddle, tennis, golf and I swim. Also I follow culture, art, literature and music and I'm a member of ‘Art, Cultura Marbella’ thus receiving comprehensive information about festivals, exhibitions and cultural activities in Andalucia.
How do you enjoy your life and what makes you happy?
I love the open-air, sunshine, sports, travelling and culture and art. I try to keep myself in a good physical shape and then I feel younger, energised and positive. I am happy to be alive and I live my life to the fullest.
Can you give recommendations how to become successful?
- Have a vision and keep pushing to achieve it.
- Move forward, but be flexible and open to change.
- Set achievable goals and know your limitations.
- Deal with people and situations with integrity and humour.
- Say what you mean; mean what you say; make and keep your agreements.
- Be observant, learn from the past.
- Make excellence your aim, not just making money; if one is excellent, the rewards will follow.
- Take responsibility over everything that happens to you - including what you think is bad; and learn from it.
- Seek win-win situations.
Can you give out any recommendations how to stay on top?
Spend less than you earn.
Continue to learn and grow, especially in relationships.
Listen carefully, be non-judgemental. (Personally, stay in good shape both physically and mentally.)
Remember that success in a particular field does not necessarily mean success in another field. Be prudent.
Learn every day and be open to new experiences and challenges.
Embrace change.
Listen and forgive.
Seek the wonders in art, literature, music and culture.
What does your job entail?
I became an inner-game sports coach as a part of my 'internal growth' process. I saw how effective and helpful it was to kids, business people and corporate people I was coaching. I wanted to progress and learn and coach more. Thus I have taken coaching and mediation courses, in the UK and in the USA and I've worked with many coaching businesses, companies and partnerships and most importantly with many, many individuals.
My main interest has always been the intellectual rigours of working with owners and chief executives of companies to aid them with their decision making process. I have only worked for myself and thus I have all these good and bad learning experiences, as an aspiring entrepreneur, to hand. I have learnt much by my mistakes and losses and can bring these experiences to the table. These experiences help clients to feel that they are not alone with their problems. This applies not only in business but also in personal relationships.
When someone has a real problem who do they speak to? The spouse? The lover? The staff? The competition? Or have a confidential conversation with a trained, experienced coach to help them solve their problems?
What exactly do you do when you coach?
I help my clients to find out what their true reality actually is in the real world. I then help them to find out by questioning what they really want, the implications and consequences. We discuss and I help them refine and choose goals within agreed time-scales i.e. short/medium and long term. Then, as part of our agreement, we discuss what has happened and is happening and their continual changing circumstances, to help them to refine and achieve their goals.
How do you work?
Normally I agree for a particular piece of work or decision making process for a period of 3 months in which I would have, say, 4 or 5 coaching sessions with additional skype or telephone sessions if required. We would agree an appropriate fee by discussion.
What are the most common problems when people have everything they appear to want?
They may appear arrogant.
They may think they know all the answers,
They may not be interested interested enough in listening clearly to other people's problems.
They may tend to make themselves right and thus make others wrong.
What advice would you give to people who would like to plan their lives so that they would be satisfied and happy?
I believe that it is fundamental to work on personal relationships. Many people try and reach money and power, but it is not necessarily the only way towards happiness. Material goals, although potent, may not be sufficient, for the real satisfaction that is achievable by opening oneself on to a much broader outlook and continually listen, feel and grow.
