Malaga City Hall cameras are illegal
20-01-2012Malaga will have to change the CCTV cameras which are placed around the city hall because they are against the law.
There are several cameras at the corners of the city hall on high posts which control who enters and exits the building. The Spanish Data Protection Agency believes that the cameras are against the law because they capture images not only of the building, but also of the surrounding areas and have requested that the municipal authorities change their location or install different cameras.
Failure to do so could result in a fine of up to €300,000. The city hall is currently waiting for an estimate from the company in charge of installing and maintaining the cameras to find a cheap and legal solution.
