How is Christmas Celebrated in the North?
25-12-2010
Christmas Eve in the North, for example in Estonia, entails certain traditions. What exactly, find out below!
First of all, besides the fact that everything outside is covered with snow, people decorate their houses inside and outside with different decorations. Also a Christmas tree is brought in and covered with lights to keep the Christmas spirit. What is more, a special Christmas Family meal is served on that special evening, which is traditionally an important part of the holiday's celebration. A standard Christmas meal includes turkey or goose, meat, pork, gravy, potatoes, vegetables, blood sausage, sauerkraut, fox berry jam and different cakes and sweets.
Throughout December, the kids receive small treats from the elves, if they behave good. And on Christmas Eve Santa Claus himself makes a visit and bring gifts exchange of a poem, song, dance etc. so children have to be good through the year to get the presents they wished for!
