Frank Skott:"Right now I'm single!"
20-08-2010I-Marbella asked the singer and songwriter, who has worked with Jez Larder (producer for Madonna, Estelle, One Eskimo etc) questions about his fabulous life, hobbies, women and much more. Read the exclusive interview below.
1. What are you working on at the moment? Is there a new single coming out soon?
At the moment, I´m working on my second album, 'Under The Streetlight.' It was written and recorded in Stockholm, and the team over there are putting the finishing touches to the artwork and the music and all that stuff as we speak. The first single from the album, 'What A Time,' is coming out very soon, sometime over the next month or so. The full album itself will be out sometime this year on itunes, amazon, rhapsody and a whole bunch of internet stores. I don´t want to say too much about it before it´s all ready and finished, I´m told it´s bad luck!
2. Have you been performing a lot this summer? Or do you feel that the crisis has influenced the entertainment business as well?
It´s been difficult trying to find gigs down here this summer, although I have found some. I think the crisis is making venue owners think twice before spending money on extras like entertainment. Having said that, Marbella is still a great place to be while you´re waiting for things to happen elsewhere.
3. What have you been up to this summer besides working on your music?
Well it´s been a difficult summer, so when I haven´t been involved in work or whatever, I´ve been trying to get as much time on the beach as possible. It´s a nice atmosphere for me to relax, take life in, and think about options, plans, etc. A kind of subconcious meditation. I´ve written a lot of songs on the beach too; I think it´s the air.
4. Have you travelled to any new places?
No, no travelling this year. I really don´t mind though, it´s nice to take a break from the travelling. I´ve been here in Marbella for over a year full time now, which is the longest I´ve gone without taking a flight in my life, music or otherwise. I´m enjoying it.
5. What kind of hobbies do you have?
I guess my hobbies are fairly normal. I like working out, driving, pretty much every sport going except football, all watersports, tapas-hopping, and spending time with and around people. I love house parties when they´re among a big group of old friends, where there´s no attitude or pretence, and everyone´s just enjoying eachother's company. I guess music is my hobby too, as well as my passion and my job.
6. You are in a very good shape. Which workout is your favourite?
Well thank you! I haven´t been training for about 3 months though, so I´m feeling terrible, but sport has always been a big part of my life. I used to play a lot of rugby, so I guess that´s where the training started. My favourite is just straight dead weight-lifting, I don´t like machines too much. I like cardio, but I hate running, I prefer swimming or tennis for the cardio. I eat well but I´m not obsessive, I just eat what I like, and then hurt myself in the gym afterwards.
7. You have many tattoos. What do they mean?
That tattoo on my stomach means courage. I have 2 others, meaning strength and love...Strength, courage and love...It´s another little life mantra of mine.
8. Are you single or committed? What do you look for in a woman?
Right now I´m single. I don´t know what I´m looking for, I haven´t been in enough relationships to know that yet. When you´re a singer, you need someone who is very understanding, very adaptable, very supportive, and just cool, someone who´s not giving you problems and asking questions all the time, someone who can just roll with the ups and downs. Other than that, I´m very vain, I cant change that, so I can only get attracted to seriously gorgeous women. And that´s probably the reason why I´m single so much, because it´s hard to find seriously gorgeous women who are also nice people, and who are still single. I guess all anyone can do is just keep looking.
9. Is Sol Beach still the place to be in Marbella or do you have a new favourite place?
It was always Sol Beach, but they didn´t open this year. Some of the staff moved to Azucar Beach, on the same stretch, so I´ve been going there this year. It wasn´t the same, so I´m just hoping Sol Beach opens up again next year. I´m hearing good things about some other places though, but I guess everyone promotes their own personal favourites, it´s normal. It´s hard getting music going now though, in a lot of places, mainly due to problems with music licences down here. The same old war between residents and tourists! Dear old sweet Marbella!
