1. Were you happy with the results of Andalucian Tennis Experience?
Yes I was very happy! We had a great court and we saw some really good tennis and also it was great that Azarenkа won the tournament, as our number 1 seed coming from Miami with no time to get used to the clay.
2. How does organizing an event and competing in one differ from each other? Do you feel less/more pressure?
It is different. I'm learning a lot from organizing and what it takes to have a successful tournament like ours, I have the player side too, so I put a lot of effort on having the players and guest comfortable and happy, it is difficult some times to do the scheduling and not all the players are going to be happy all the time, but we try!
3. What do you miss about competing on tournaments?
After playing 18 years professional tennis, I really don't miss a thing. I'm very happy with my life and I'm still involved in tennis.
4. What is the most memorable match during your career? Why?
I had many and of course winning Wimbledon was the most memorable match, but every time you win a title is a great feeling!!
5. What would you say is the best/downside of being a professional tennis player?
Being a professional tennis player has lots of ups and downs, losing is hard but it is important to learn from that and work hard to get better. Also it is hard to travеl all the time and not have a normal life with friends and family, but I would do it again with no doubt, tennis has given me a lot!
6. Do you still play? And how often?
I'm coaching at the moment so yes I do play a little. I like to play with girls that are on the tour, playing for just fun with someone else is no fun at all for me.
7. What does it take to make it to the top in women's tennis?
You have to work hard if you want to be a professional and you need to have a very strong commitment to do the right thing no matter what. That means not having much fun other than on the court training!
8. What are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time?
I like to hike, walk, bike try new restaurants, going to the movies etc..
9. How often do you visit Marbella? What do you like about this city?
I come here maybe 2-3 times a year and it is a beautiful city! I love the sea and it makes me happy. Also the people here are very friendly and I have some friends coming here this year - I love it!
10. What can be expected next year at the Andalucia Tennis Experience?
We will work very hard on bringing the best tennis players of the moment and like the first year it is during Easter so more people are going to come, I really look forward to that!
