Taste of the Orient at The Orchid Room…24-12-2009 Comments (2)
On our way through Puerto Banus one evening we made an impromptu stop in at The Orchid Room, the inimitable Charlotte Fisher´s latest venture. True to form, the hostess with the mostest invited us to share in a light libation and a selection of starters…
Located on the mezzanine floor of the Chateau Mona Lisa Restaurant on the front line of the Port, The Orchid Room offers a taste of the Orient with a mix of Thai and Japanese influences.
The sultry lit intimate restaurant, decorated in red and black, is an ideal venue for small private parties and has great views over the infamous port. Care and attention to detail was evident throughout; from the geometric wine glasses to the unusual shaped plates and the large round candles on the balcony.
Charlotte´s favourite mixologist shakes up some delicious sounding cocktails and some originals takes on old favourites such as the Kumquat Mojito. I tried a Singapore Sling which was delicious and nicely presented with Kumquat and cranberries on the side of the glass. The Champagne list has a selection of Moet & Chandon from Benajamin to Jéroboams and Mathusalems, as well as champagnes from Laurent Perrier and Louis Roederer and a very palatable house Cava from Juvé & Camps.
Although closed on the 25th December the Orchid Room will be serving an a la carte menu for New Years Eve.
We look forward to stopping in again to do a food review in the near future…
