Food Review by Xusan Teo: Restaurant Sol-I-Luna in the Golden Mile Marbella
28-03-2012 Comments (3)A perfect place for a romantic dinner or private events and also known for its Sunday Buffet + Barbeque, Restaurant Soli-I-Luna located in the heart of the Golden Mile just behind the King’s Palace. The head chef Daniel Kosak creates fusion dishes of Italian and Mediterranean, while Isabel Dominguez welcomes you with the warmest smile that makes you feel most welcome!
Together with my usual food gang, Wolfgang Schlesier, owner of Casa Marbella, John Bhimji and Alia Babapulle, we went to visit Restaurant Sol-I-Luna this time. We were greeted with a warm welcome at the door and she slowly escorted us to our table right in front of the fireplace; the weather was nice so there was no need of fire; however it gave a warm, romantic and cosy atmosphere together with the beautiful paintings on the walls.
We were first offered a Kir Royal to start our evening and slowly Isabel explained what Chef Daniel Kosak has planned for us. He has selected a 3-course meal for us, all different dishes with different taste and flavour.
We began our dinning experience with 4 different starters. The gratinated Goat Cheese with Passion fruit and Poppy Sprouts cookie was perfectly done; a nice good crust on the outside while the warm soft cheese melted gentle in your mouth. The Lobster Claw cocktail with Mango Sauce was beautifully presented; it was tasty, refreshing and light to eat.

After being satisfied with the starters, the 4 different main courses were served. Wolfgang and I had the fish; Salmon and Sea Bass, both were well cooked and moist were kept. John and Alia have chosen the meat dishes, Rib Eye charcoal grilled with caramelised vegetables served with light mustard sauce was cooked to perfection and so was the Lamb with Rosemary sauce. The meat was so flavoursome that you want to ask for more.

Never say no to dessert, especially to homemade pies and Ice-cream and we definitely have tried to keep our diet conversation till the end of the dinner! Homemade Apple pie and Vanilla Ice-cream and the Warm wild Berries with Mascarpone Ice-cream were divine!

It was a wonderful evening we spent and we thought the service was excellent, attention to detail and the food was tasty and of excellent quality. If you want to enjoy a good Sunday lunch, then you should not miss their popular weekly Buffet and BBQ Sunday lunch with 40 different dishes including Tenderloin, Ribs and Lamb, for only 26.95€, it is absolutely good and value for money!
Score for Restaurant Sol-i-Luna:
Quality: 8.5/10
Taste: 8.3/10
Presentation: 8/10
