Estepona has an interest in reaching agreements with Latvia in tourism, cultural and business matters, therefore the City Council met yesterday with the first secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Spain, Andrejs Kovalovs.

After the meeting, Estepona mayor, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano, explained that these agreements could involve "investment interest" to the municipality and said the government project team is to promote initiatives that translate into the sanitary city of Estepona.

The purpose of the meeting was to establish lines of collaboration between the two countries and close an upcoming meeting with the Ambassador of Latvia in Spain, Janis Eichmanis. He himself has decided to visit Estepona on the journey to Malaga held in the near future, to be determined. According to the mayor, this event aims to strengthen ties and establish new channels of cooperation that help to "reposition the brand Estepona" in the Baltic country.

Municipal sources pointed out that José María García Urnano transmitted Kovalovs Andrejs the objective of the City Council to establish lines of cooperation. Consistory also ensured that the representative of Latvia was "satisfied" with this first contact and visited several attractions in the historic center.
