Black year for murders

October topped a year already marked by violent deaths with another five murders which, together with one so far this month, bring the numbers of murders in Malaga province so far this year to 21 This is five more than the total for the whole of 2010.
Six people have been murdered in Malaga capital and another ten along the coast – three in Marbella, two each in Mijas, Torremolinos and Fuengirola, and one in Estepona. There was one murder each in the inland towns of Arriate, Alhaurin el Grande, Tolox, Igualeja and Cutar.
In addition, police are investigating several suspicious deaths, including that of the man found floating off La Cala de Mijas last week. Three quarters of the murders have already been solved. The perpetrators of all those committed in urban areas have already been arrested but the pending cases include bodies found in solitary campo areas which hve yet to be identified.
