Puente Romano Beach Resort and Spa Review by Mademoiselle Robot12-04-2016
Welcome to Marbella! Arriving in Spain on a sunny day in March feels a little naughty, like maybe you are on a spring break, even though you know you are approximately 150 years too old to be a spring breaker.
After a rather long British winter, with no-real-winter-sun-type trips to counteract my vitamin D deficiency, I was desperate for some warmth and sunshine on my skin. The first thing I did upon waking up in my suite at Puente Romano Beach Resort and Spa was to head to its private terrace, sit down with my eyes closed just taking it all in.
Because this is what a stay at Puente Romano is really about to me: a festival for the senses… The sweet singing of the birds, the warm Mediterranean sea breeze, the incredible food on offer at their nine eateries (including Dani Garcia's eponymous double Michelin-starred restaurant ), and, of course, the stunning scenery – blue pools, lush green vegetation, and Andalusian whitewashed buildings.
While I am not generally one for the #resortlife, I am more than happy to experience it in small doses. When you are overworked and overtired, there is something to be said about being able to disconnect entirely knowing there is food, spa, and many other interesting things to do within a 100 m radius of your spacious room. This time, I was travelling solo, but I can see Puente Romano being the perfect family getaway too. Perhaps, I will have to go back with Mini and Mister.
If you fancy something a little more active during your stay at Puente Romano, there is a myriad of activities on offer, from horse riding and golfing during the day to dancing the night away at their brand new club La Suite, hot new hangout for Marbella's it-crowd.
About Puente Romano Beach Resort and Spa
Situated on Marbella's Golden Mile, Puente Romano is named after an ancient Roman bridge in the heart of its lush sub-tropical gardens. Built in the style of Andalusian village, the resort was opened in 1979 and has been a fashionable getaway ever since, with all the spacious rooms and suites offering lovely private terraces.
Located directly on the beach with three swimming pools, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and world famous tennis club, Puente Romano is also a sporting paradise.
Guests enjoy exclusive access to the Marbella Club Golf Resort, the Dave Thomas-designed championship course, and El Higueral, one of the most scenic courses on the coast.
