John Thomson, Corporate Director of Food & Beverage at MC Hotels, is a man known for bringing fantastic food and premium service to MC Hotels' restaurants and clubs. He is a keen traveller and can now be found practically anywhere around the globe.
i-Marbella asked John several questions about his work, future plans, and Marbella, and this is what he told us.
Where do you reside permanently and how long have you been working for the MC Hotels Group?
I live in Marbella, and I have been working for MC Hotels since 2002.
What is it exactly that you do as you are considered to be one of the key people in Marbella?
I am Corporate Director of Food & Beverage for our hotel group (eight hotels in total) plus two for luxury hotel partners and a small luxury hotels brand.
What would you say is the most difficult and the most pleasant thing you have to do in your position?
The most difficult thing that I do is ensuring that our standards are consistently achieved through both our products and services within our outlets. The most pleasant thing I do is when I speak to clients who visit our properties, and they tell me that they have had a great experience and that they will return.
What do you think is the general motto of such luxury hotels as Puente Romano Beach Resort and Spa, Schlössle Hotels, etc.?
Quality and having a good team who can impart this attribute.
How do you keep yourself fit and how do you deal with being frequently away from your family while on business trips?
I play tennis and go to the gym. Even when travelling, I like to visit the gym first thing in the morning so that I can start the day energised.
Is there a particular person or a group you are looking forward to collaborate with?
I am looking forward to opening our hotel in Ibiza, hopefully, this summer.
What are you expecting from 2016? What do you think 2016 will bring to Marbella?
I hope that Marbella will be as busy as 2015 and will continue to grow as a luxury destination attracting new tourists from around the globe to our hotels.
