The retired motorbike racer Fonsi Nieto talks to i-Marbella about fashion.

Fonsi, who is the nephew of the great Angel Nieto, began racing minibikes in 1994 and started competing from 1995 to 1999. He participated in the category of 125 cc and then followed with 250 cc, he started his career in Superbikes Championship World Cup in 2005 and  again in 2010 he competed in the category of Moto2.

He has worked for different brands and teams like D'Antin or Aspar among others. After his serious accident last August 2010 in the U.S. during the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he broke his ankle, he decided to give up in his career, as he was unable to recover from his injuries in his left foot.

New Projects

The Discotheque Kapital in Madrid was the premiere Scenario for Fonsi Nieto to perform as a DJ, as it was published in an interview of "La Razon" : "I will take this year to do a few things I have in mind. I want to be DJ, as it has been my hobby since I was a kid and I´m excited to do it again. For next year I might go back to the World Cup, perhaps helping kids, doing something with the media ... I have many projects and I have to think about it. What I want, is to keep connected to the motobikes, because I'm in that world since I was a little boy. "

1 - Some people see you as a metrosexual. What does your wardrobe say about you and how do you define your style?

Fonsi: The metrosexual word does not exist in my dictionary and since my accident I only wear sneakers and Dsquared clothes.

2 - You've done some fashion work. For who have you worked for?

Fonsi: I've done advertising campaigns for Hugo Boss, Adidas, Dscuared ... etc. ..

3- Now that you decided to quit your career as a racer, do you want to get involved more in the fashion world? What are your future plans?

Fonsi: I'll be a dad soon and I am very excited! For the moment I will only be involved in music, traveling from here to there!

4- How did you feel when different brands chose you to be their image?

Fonsi: I really appreciated it and I felt comfortable with it. Dsquared is the only brand that I would buy without having seen the collection... I love it!

5 - By what criteria you choose your clothes?

Fonsi: For me the most important fact is that it has to be comfortable.

6 - The changes in your look,  are they due to "moods or advice"?

Fonsi: Mood for sure, but I´m not afraid of changing my look! Especially my hair - it goes from orange, to normal colors and cuts. It all depends on my mood.

7 - What is your last non-realized whim?

Fonsi: A trip with my girlfriend, because we have no time! I hope we will be able to do that trip soon .... And I also love watches.
