Amber Lounge was founded by Sonia Irvine, sister of Ferrari F1 star Eddie Irvine. 

The first Amber Lounge event took place at the Monaco Grand Prix in May 2003. The premise was simple: to create a truly VIP nightlife experience that reflected the glamour and exclusivity of one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world. Over the years Amber Lounge has carved a reputation as an unique venue where drivers, celebrities, VIPs and regular race fans can come together to enjoy a stylish, fun night out. For 2011 Amber Lounge is hosting parties in Monaco, Singapore, Delhi and Abu Dhabi.

Amber Lounge Fashion show took place on May 27th and it was an incredible success. In the presence of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco, his future wife Miss Charlene Wittstock, the stunning Kim Kardashian, UK’s nr. 1 Artist Taio Cruz and other VIPs, the Charity auction raised over half a million USD for Special Olympics. The fashion show starred Matthew Williamson Collection and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. 10 Formula One drivers modeled the bespoke Shipton White suits.

Newly engaged Kim Kardashian, and a host of international celebrities, gathered in Monaco today to watch ten Formula One drivers on the catwalk, world renowned designer Matthew Williamson showing his latest stunning creations and the UK’s number one artist Taio Cruz giving a show stopping performance at the annual Amber Lounge fashion show. Under the High Patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco the event raised over half a million dollars for the Special Olympics thanks to the generosity of the celebrity audience.

The show, which was opened by Tamara Ecclestone and hosted by BBC frontman Jake Humphries also featured Kim Kardashian who took to the stage to thank the audience for their contribution.

The Formula one drivers opened the show, wowing the audience in their bespoke Shipton White suits. They were followed onto the catwalk by models dressed in Matthew Williamson’s famed ‘feel-good’ prints and kaleidoscopic colour, who sashayed by the pool at sunset in Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Hot British artist Taio Cruz performed his global hit single, “Break Your Heart” whilst stunning lingerie creations from Nichole de Carle, favoured by celebs such as Cheryl Cole, added an extra spice to the runway.

This year Amber Lounge Fashion was supporting the Special Olympics, a movement which H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his future wife Charlene Wittstock have taken to their hearts, Special Olympics is dedicated to giving athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their accomplishments.

The atmosphere of the auction was heating up with every minute. TAG Heuer Monaco Automobile Club de Monaco Limited Edition to Two pieces Calibre Chronograph went for EUR 20,000 to Petra Ecclestone’s fiancee James Stunt, while another unique model - TAG Heuer Formula 1 Lady Diamonds, Steel and Ceramic Chronograph Automobile Club de Monaco Limited Edition to Two pieces - was acquired for EUR 16,000 by Mr. Firoz Kassam.

The stunning motorcycle BMW S1000RR signed by Taio Cruz was bought for EUR 20,000 by James Stunt and then donated back to the auction to be further purchased by Dominic Brett for another EUR 18,000 EUR. The 4 nights at the Setai Miami, South Beach Penthouse went to Mr. Javed Fiyaz for EUR 25,000, a 10-day sea voyage on the “World” including lunch for 10 guests with Miss Charlene Wittstock was acquired by Mr. Andrey Hicksv for EUR 35.000 while Tina Green, the Wife of Sir Philip Green, paid EUR 250,000 for the opportunity to Support the Special Olympics European Swimming Tournament 2012. The incredible “Evening in Florence” – a Pendant by Bykovs’ Jewelry House became a center of a bidding battle between Miss Charlene Wittstock with Mr. Fiyaz winning the battle with the bed of EUR 80.000 and generously giving the pendant to Miss Wittstock as a present in view of the upcoming wedding.

The stunning pool at Le Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel played host to Amber Lounge Fashion’s 700 VIP and celebrity guests who enjoyed the specially created Apple Martinis from DQ Vodka, sparkling Donelli Rose Brut and the tantalising energy drink EQ8 at the post-event cocktail party.

The celebration continued until the early hours as stars and VIPs headed to the exclusive Amber Lounge club to enjoy another ultimate Grand Prix night with unlimited champagne, the chicest ambiance and dancing till dawn.
