Marbella Makeover winner Helen Powell will go through a big transformation!24-04-2012 Comments (3)
From the hundreds that applied, and after countless hours of deliberation from the experts, Marbella Makeover has finally selected the winner who will be getting the transformation of a lifetime. Only one of them will have their lives revolutionized through this access-all-areas project. And the luck winner is Helen Powell!
i-Marbella met Helen and Dr. Kai Kaye from Ocean Clinic to find out more what is going to happen with her and exactly what procedures will Helen be getting!
Since Helen already had her teeth done, Dr Kai Kaye revealed that they will have to wait with the facial operations and will start with her body! "We're going to start in 2 weeks with the body. We're going to try to give her breast augmentation, in the same surgery we will do body sculpturing, which includes two things: liposuction(removing the excess fat) and then losing the excess skin. All this together will be around 4 hours," says Dr.Kaye. The amazing thing is the recovery time after such a big operation is more than fast! "After the operation she could even walk around and go to the loo. And the next day she can go home. She can even drive after three days. And go to work in two or three weeks," explains Dr. Kaye. In September The Ocean Clinic team will start with the work on Helen's face. She will get an eyelid lift, facelift at the end they will going to work on her nose and soften up the feature of it.
After speaking with Dr Kai we move on to Helen Powell to find out more about her!
Tell us a little bit about yourself Helen..
My name is Helen, I am 46-years-old and I live with my partner here on the Costa del Sol. I have one son and two stepchildren, all of whom are now living away from our family home. Until more recently I saw myself as an outgoing, confident person, now I look in the mirror and just don’t recognise myself. I think that this is partly related to the strain of nursing my son through two consecutive bouts of cancer over the last couple of years, I just can’t seem to regain my former sparkle!
Have you considered plastic surgery before?
I had a breast enlargement 12 years ago, however this was primarily a reconstructive procedure as a result of an operation that saved my life when I was 14 hours old, part of my right breast muscle was cut away so they could get to my windpipe and oesophagus. Other than this and a small eye surgery, I have never considered any other major procedures until now.
What is your biggest insecurity?
I would say that the thing that I am most insecure about is looking old, resulting in making me unable to feel sexy or womanly.
Do you feel this has affected your confidence?
Yes, I look at pictures of me when the kids were young and then look in the mirror and I feel like I am just looking at an old woman and not a person that is ageing beautifully.
What procedure are you most scared of?
I think the body, because it is quite a lot what they're doing at once. Although I feel very confident with the team and I trust them.
What surgery are you most excited about?
Probably the nose, because I've had a small bump there. And I don't like how it looks from the side.
How is being selected already changed your life?
I feel that this process will not only give me the looks that I want to regain, but that it would also give me the confidence back that I have lost in recent years. It’s not just me that would benefit, but my family too. I am certain that I will find a whole new lease of life!
In the first week of may Helen will be having the first surgery! And 4 days before she has to make blood tests to make sure she is healthy and ready for the big day! i-Marbella will be taking photos of her, for you to see her appearance before going under the knife and maybe we will even publish some photos of the surgery itself! Stay tuned!
