Try these smart tips to help boost your memory...
Try associating what it is you wish to remember with something that you see on a daily basis and visualize it in your mind´s eye. For example you are off to the supermarket, mentally walk through your home and identify things that you see there then juxtapose them with your shopping list. According to Karen Dolby, author of Dolby´s Memory Magic, “Practice visualizing these features carefully. Now, if your shopping list consists of bread, milk and butter link each item to one of these features (in your home). For example, bread in the letterbox, milk in the vase and butter in the cat´s bed. The next time you visualize walking through your home you will recall them.”
2. Sleep well
Having restful sleep should not be underestimated and we need two good night’s sleep to be at our best. Harvard Medical School demonstrated that lack of memory can be caused if our sleep is bothered on one or two nights post study session.
3. Imagine relaying information to others
Studies show that we are more adept at retaining information if we are able to imagine explaining the concept or presentation to a friend.
4. You may not forget the face, but the name?
Dolby states that if you assign a celebrity with the same name to the person that you have just met, chances are you will recall that person´s name the next time that you meet them.
5. Keep your mind active
Do crossword puzzles, jigsaws, learn something new.
6. Be healthy
As with everything, fuel your body correctly, eat healthily and exercise regularly, this keeps your brain healthy.
