Dr.Kaye and Ocean Clinic Team Travelled to Peru for Charity Work31-10-2013
Dr Kaye and his team from Ocean Clinic ran a Plastic Surgery Charity Campaign at Kausay Wasi Clinic in Peru, a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to develop medical campaigns that promote the health of poor people. On Thursday, 5th September, Ocean Clinic celebrated its Fifth Anniversary, and instead of just celebrating the success, they used that opportunity to raise funds for the campaign. Which they did and managed to travel all the way to South America, Peru to help people in need.
1. How long did you stay in Peru?
We stayed 10 days in total.
2. How much did you get to see Peru?
Only one day in Machu Picchu and Cusco on the way back to the airport, the rest was work.
3. What did you think of the town and Peru overall? Was it your first time?
We stayed in Coya, a village with only 350 inhabitants. Very, very poor area with many houses without water. The landscape was breathtaking and the people were very nice. And with great hospitality.
4. How big was the team?
10 persons - 3 Surgeons, 2 Dentists, 2 Nurses, 1 Anesthetist, 2 support staff.
5. How much money did you raise in Marbella for the equipment and the trip?
Donations and money raised at our charity gala came to 7000 Euros covering medications, equipment and local expenses, every team member paid for their flights and accommodation.
6. Are you planning on doing another project like this in the future?
Yes, we are actually making plans to repeat the campaign next year, probably in another south american country.
7. What are your plans for the fall?
Working to catch up with all work accumulated here in my clinic and preparing for x-mas ;-)
