Costa del Sol Tourist Board trying new approach
They have set themselves a target of attracting 37% more tourists this year than last.
The Costa del Sol Tourist Board (Patronato) is changing its strategy in its promotions this year. Instead of focussing on the nationalities of the potential tourists, this year the campaign will be based on their characteristics and tastes. The plan was presented in Málaga on Wednesday with already 104 businessmen are taking part.
President of the Patronato, Elias Bendodo, said the program contains 321 advertising events which he insisted shows the commitment of the organisation to meet their target of 37% more arrivals this year than last, despite a cut in the budget.
‘We are going to do more for less’, he said, saying the Costa del Sol would be repositioned as the perfect destination, and not just one with sun and sand.
Among the features of the plan are holiday tourism, residential tourism and leisure, cultural activities, language learning the cruises. Congresses on the coast will be promoted along with golf and green tourism inland, rural and active. The objective is to attract clients with money to spend, and show they could come at any time of the year.
