Torremolinos is getting popular!

Over a quarter of all the tourists who come to Costa del Sol stay in the area called Torremolinos.
The reason what's behind its popularity is actually not exactly known, but the figures speak for themselves. For example in 2011 it accounted for 10% of all the reservations in all of Andalucía, more than a quarter of all the tourists on the Costa del Sol. This is also three times the numbers of tourists who travelled to Córdoba province. Torremolinos municipality has a population of 68,181 and last year there were more than 4.2 million overnight stays in its hotels.
Mayor of Torremolinos, Pedro Fernández Montes, said the numbers from the National Statistics Institute were not casual, but the result of constant work and an evolution to meet the needs of the travellers, diversifying and complementing the start product of sun and the beach.
