Interview with Puangpayom Chaken from Leelawadee Massage Salon09-10-2012
Puangpayom Chaken(35) is originally from Thailand, but lives in Marbella now, where she runs an authentic Thai massage salon called Leelawadee. i-Marbella decided to find out more about the beautiful woman!
1. How did you become a masseuse? Where have you worked before?
I've become a masseuse because I personally enjoy having a massage my self. I've always have an interest of learning how to make a traditional massage. Therefore i started taking classes of traditional Thai massage. Before becoming a masseuse I was working in Milan `"Italy" for a fashion company in Visual merchandising.
2. Where were you educated?
I was educated from Thai Massage Development School in Thailand.
3. How did you end up in Marbella? What made you stay here?
I came to Marbella first time as a tourist, but fell in love with the weather, the sea and the mixture of lifestyles - Spanish and English in Puerto Banus.
I feel very much relaxed here compared to where i was - Milan for 15 years. So i decided to move here and opened my business which i'm confident i can do well after 7 years of experience of having a salon.
4. How does Thai massage differ from other types of massages?
Thai massage is different from other types of massages because its move energizing than other froms of massage it is also reduces stress and improves flexibilities.
5. How often should a person go to massage? Why should people visit your salon?
As often as people like, because we have all professional masseuses with many years of experienced in traditional massage. The salon is very clean, friendly with a very relaxing atmosphere, which is perfect for relaxation.
6. How difficult is to open and run a new business in Marbella during the crisis period?
To open and run a new business in Marbella during the crisis period is very difficult and risky as when you bring a new business to a new place where nobody knows you. Also with the crisis people are more careful with what they're spending on but I believe in the saying "you get what you pay for" as I know of the qualities we have in our salon!
7. What do you consider to be your biggest achievement so far? What are your plans for the future?
I opened this salon about 6 months and so far I've gotten a very good feedback from people! My plan for the future is to expand the salon and have a spa that has a herbal sauna for example.
8. How do you spend your free time in Marbella? What are your favorite places?
I spend my free time mostly relaxing, because in my job I use a lot of energy of both mentally and physically. But I like to going to the beach, drive to Tarifa to relax. Also I enjoy having nice meals in nice restaurants or having a few drinks in local bar in Marbella.
