10 Minutes with the CEO of i-Marbella, Annika Urm17-05-2012 Comments (29)
Today we are talking with a remarkable and successful woman and will ask her how she can do it all! Her name is Annika Urm (32) - the investor and business developer of www.i-marbella.com! But this is not all she does and have done and maybe it is time you get to know the woman behind the scenes. After finishing her MBA in Finance, she build up the biggest women's media company in Estonia called Buduaar.ee, so she has the experiences and know-how's in web business development. At the moment she is consulting and analyzing web business projects in one of the leading and biggest media and web business corporations in Estonia called AS Postimees. And if that wasn't enough she also raises two children!
1. Where were you educated?
I am educated in Estonia, EBS (Estonian Business School), an MBA in Finance.
2. How would you describe yourself?
I'm always happy and smiling. I'm energetic, social, passionate, sporty, warm and friendly. I always take care of my close friends! In business, I'm always punctual and decide fast!
3. How did you manage to do all of this and you're still so young?
I have worked hard! I started young, worked hard, learned in several schools and I have always had the hunger to do something. And there is passion in every action that I've done in my life. You also need to have goals and willingess to do it, and just follow your dreams!
... and life is just starting for me and the best times are still ahead and my biggest achievements as well!
4. How do you manage everything - children, business, social life?
The overall secret is to do everything with PASSION and love life! Actually i don't manage everything alone. My family has been the one who has suffered a bit because of work. But the other hand, because of the strong support from them is one of the reasons why I have accomplished everything. If you want to work hard and be successful you need support and also you have to have everything well-organized. Now with all the experience I have I try to divide my time for work and also have some free time. In that way I can spend more quality time with my children, family and friends!
I feel so lucky to have so many good and kind friends around me, who have helped me and we have all become like a big family. The multitalented sisters Tene and Triin Sommer, who I love working and also spending time with, also Kaouthar Wadih, Saeko Hamada, Sam Cameron - all the people I work with I admire and treat as family! For me, my friends are also a part of my family!
5. Who are your role-models and idols?
There are so many beautiful, smart and successful people. For example Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Richard Branson, Amancio Ortega.. the list is endless! And I love talking to different educated and intelligent people, because you can learn so much from them!
6. What are you passions?
I like to read, listen to music, skiing, travelling, making love and making people around me happy! When it comes to reading I love biographies of colourful and remarkable people. Anybody who has been successful are genius in different ways in my opinion! Also I enjoy books about business and psychology. I believe that even one sentence from a book can change your life, attitude, business, sucess etc.
7. What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment?
My two lovely children of course!!! And career-wise building up the biggest women's media company called Buduaar! Not only it's an online magazine, but it's also a real printed magazine and a big events company. We even had our own TV shoW! If you ask in Estonia from a random person on the street, do you know Buduaar, then the only answer you'll get will be YES!
8. What are your goals and dreams?
My dream is to have a big happy family, good friends and then spending quality time with them! I love challenges in business! My goal is to travel a lot, take care of my friends and family and be happy! Also to raise my children in a way that they would be successful and happy in their lives! But I guess I'm already living my dream life, so I'm just going to keep doing what I'm already doing!
9. What made you fall in love with Marbella? How did you start i-Marbella website?
This is my favorite question! I have only one sentence for this: Marbella has always been good to me and I have always been good to Marbella!
I just love Marbella and in every way! So many happy moments, warm people, beautiful peaceful places aso. The first time I came here was because of my children, just to take them somewhere warm! And after that I fell love with it and needed a reason to keep coming back here! So I was thinking what could I do here and what Marbella was missing, so I came up idea of i-marbella.com. First there were only picture galleries, but soon I realised this was not enough and we need news and interviews too. And eveyr since I've been constantly building it bigger and better. And now we have 80.000 unique visits a month and we can be read in three languages! And this year we celebrate the 3rd Anniversary!
10. Is it harder to do business here or in Estonia? Why?
Of course it's much easier in Estonia, because first of all, Estonia is much bigger than Marbella. Second reason is the economy, which is much better in Estonia than in Marbella and also Spain generally. At the moment the economy here is in a bad condition and of course the hard part is that Marbella only works during summer season, so everything depends on tourists.
11. What are your plans for this summer?
My plan no is to come to Marbella in May, go to Saeko Hamada's wedding and then celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of I-Marbella, which will be on the 15th of June. And of course I will spend time with my children!

Poor Johnny, what's gotten into you? Let them do their own thing, you do yours. People who envy and talk bad about other only make themselves look bad, ask anybody. And I have never heard the people from i-marbella talking bad about you Johnny. Leave them alone and start living your own life!Congrats to Annika for keeping the site up and running for so many years and it's only getiing better I see..
to Johnny - you have another page, why don't you show how good you can make it,if you and only you have been the founder.Don't read an follow this one then.Just do it and give us the readers reason to follow!Do it your way,why envy a girl? There is always competition with every business. We like this.I as homeowner in Marbella like more to read this, not yet found much on your site.It seems to be different target group?
