Annika Urm Opened French Cafe Creperie in Estonia18-07-2013
The owner of I-Marbella.com, Annika Urm, is not only running the online magazine, but also made a completely different business in Tallinn, Estonia, where she is from. Her brand new place is called Cafe Creperie and it opened its doors only couple of months ago.
1. How long have you been active in business and what other projects have you done?
I have been in the businessworld for 13 years now, starting with accounting and real estate and most of my time worked in the media both in Estonia and Spain. And I still do! I have made marketing for over 500 companies. Sold them advertising and marketing solutions and also help to start new businesses.
I have a MBA in finance and also the chef papers. I have won and lost, risked and made things happen. The experiences are the ones you gain and the ones you keep. Also I think I have a pretty good sixth sense and gut feeling which i trust a lot.
2.It has been going through the media in Estonian that you opened a Cafeteria. Where did you get that idea?
Yes I opened Cafe Creperie, where we make super thin crepes and galettes. I guess it was just life giving me the right opportunity and I took it and did it, like with many things in my life. I am actually happy because its a daytime business. We are open from 8 in the morning until 20 in the evening every day. I wanted a business where I can invite my family and also my children can see how to make business, because they come here every day after school.
I have the papers to be a chef, besides three other school diplomas and I have adores pancakes since I was a child. I think it was the first food I learned to make and my grandmother also made super thin crepes. They were greasy, but absolutely divine and we ate them with sugar. This is why I also put crepes with sugar and cinnamon in our menu. But of course we have crepes with everything you can think of - with banana, strawberries, different jams and even with nutella.
Besides the crepes we also offer salty crepes, that are called gullets. I have travelled a lot and eaten out in numerous places and also my friends are excellent chefs, for example Xusan Teo in Marbella, who is also the author of our Food Reviews. And when you see and eat different things, you can develop your own recipes. What is surprising is that we are the only business in Estonia that makes Pancake Cakes. We sell them in the Cafe and also people order them to go.
3.But why a French type of Cafe?
Because its classical and elegant and I love this type of places. And I believe we don't have so many simple but elegant places here. The good thing for our Cafe is that we are located just opposite the Tallinn Market, so our clientele is not only locals but also tourists.
4. What is the rest of the menu like?
We offer healthy and delicious breakfasts - omelets, porridge, French and English breakfasts. In addition, we have great smoothies, salads, wraps, soups, pastas and also set menu fro the day. We offer the opportunity to organize your event here and every Sunday there is a Fun Children Sunday with entertainment.
When you visit Tallinn, make sure you pass by. You are all very welcome!
Our slogan is Made with Love and everything that we offer is made with a lot of love from the heart! I want to thank all my family and friends who have helped me set up and run this business! Thank you!
MADE with LOVE!
