Gas fraudsters arrested in Marbella
05-05-2012The National Police have arrested 14 people in Marbella on several charges!
Such as posing as gas inspectors and parting unsuspecting householders from their money. It is actually one of the most common scams – Some men will turn up on the doorstep of an older person who preferably is foreign and usually lives alone. The language barrier helps the men to make “repairs” which are usually unnecessary and cost three or four times as much as the regular gas companies would charge. The 14 detainees worked for a legally constituted company, unlike many who are “self-employed”.
But you should remember that proper gas companies always warn householders of impending inspections by post, giving a date and a time, and people are advised always to check I.D.
