Sam Cameron's Marbella Nightlife Blog #3: Wallem Brothers!
02-03-2012 Comments (1)This week's Blog will introduce you what I'd say are Marbella's #1 DJs & Producers, the Wallem Brothers! I met Chris Wallem around 10 years ago, when we were both only 15-16 years old, and since then I have seen their improvements step by step. We have had a couple drinks in between too!
Marbella raised boys with foreign background just like me, Chris & Danyo Wallem AKA Wallem Brothers, are the up and coming Electro House duo from The Costa del Sol!
Q: Where are you from?
A: We are originally half Danish half Norwegien but we have lived in Marbella all our lives...
Q: What got you into DJing and Producing?
A: [Chris] Well, our uncle was a DJ and we always looked up to him, so when i was 14 i got my first set of turntables, i didnt have a clue what to do with them haha but i thought it was cool and i used to mess around and play for my friends at home...
Then i left it for a few years, because of exams, work etc. Until one day a friend asked if i wanted to play at his bar in Puerto Banus... I ended up playing there for the rest of the summer! This was back in 2006!
[Danyo] I started messing around with production softwares at the age of about 16, recording stupid things with my cousin and friends just for fun, i then started taking it abit more serious and started remixing songs i liked at the time and putting them on Youtube to see what people thought...
Q: When did you guys decide to join forces?
A: It kind of just happend when someone who had heard a remix of Danyo's on Youtube and ask him if he would like to go to Zurich to DJ, and as he didnt know how to DJ back then, he said well my brother and i can both go...
And they Put Wallem Brothers on the flyer and that was it, we stuck with that name hehe
Since then we have been producing tracks together and doing gigs together...
Q: What equipment/software do you use to produce your music?
A: We use FL Studio, but with loads of diffent plugins like Massive, Nexus, Sylenth1, Gladiator
just to name a few...
Q: When did you sign your first record deal?
A: We signed our first deal with a label from denmark called Zoo production at the end of 2010
Q: How would you describe your style, and who can we compare it to?
A: Well we like to experiment with diferent genres but over the past 2 year we have kind of
developed our own sound in the Electro House genre. We try to give it a progressive touch with long melodic breaks, to give it a more bigroom sound, you could compare our style to artists like Zedd, Lazy Rich, Felguk, Dadalife, Chuckie, and some friends like Sam have compared us with Deadmau5 a few times too.
Q: Which Record labels are you working with at the moment?
A: We work with Zoo Production and Disco Wax (Denmark) and we recently released our debut EP with one of the top electro/Dubstep labels in the industry 'Big Fish Recordings' (Canada) owned by Lazy Rich so we were pretty stoked about that!
Q: Have you had any chart success so far?
A: Actually we have, nothing major really but we been in the top 40 Dance charts in Denmark twice, and we've been in the Top 100 Electro chart on Beatport last year...
Q: When will you be releasing your next Track/Tracks?
A: Very soon! hehe we dont have release dates yet but stay tuned! :P
Q: Which cities have you played in and which would you say is your favorite?
A: We havent actually played in that many yet, but we've been to Malaga, Marbella,
Madrid, Zurich and London... but we will also be working with BIGSTAGE(Sweden), so we will be playing all around Europe including Ibiza this year!
We dont really have a favorite place yet but really like playing in Malaga, the crowd gives it their all, theres a crazy vibe there!
Q: What are you doing at the moment and what are your plans for the rest of the year?
A: At the moment we are working on a few singles which we will probably be released on Big Fish.
Apart from that we have our own event once a month,in Marbella at Tribeca 12, which is called "Bad Barbie" and we are residents for "Destroy This Club" in Malaga alongside Hellboys.
So if your into Bigroom Electro and Dubstep, come and see us! :)![]()
[Sam]
There's probably more Swedish teenagers producing than studying, but I still believe my boys will make it, and they know they have my full support!
Looks like it will be a great year for you guys, we wish you all the best and thanks for talking to us!
