83% of Spaniards in prison outside Spain are there for drug related crimes
09-07-2012A campaign is being launched to remind Spaniards of the dangers of drugs.
- 83% of the Spaniards being held in prisons abroad are there because of drug trafficking. The Ministries of Health, Social Services and Equality, Justice and Foreign Affairs, have launched a campaign today to warn Spaniards travelling abroad of the risks of consuming or trafficking with drugs.
- Posters are being put up in train stations and airports saying ‘Don’t buy, don’t consume or traffic drugs when abroad’. About a third of the Spaniards are in European jails but there are also prisoners in Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Morocco.
