El Lago Chef honoured

Diego Del Rio, award winning chef at the Michel stared restaurant El Lago, was recently honoured with “The Silver Chestnut” award from his home town of Pujerra in the Sierra de Ronda. Although he trained as a chef in Paris before returning to Spain and winning the Michelin Star at El Lago, the beautiful restaurant overlooking the Greenlife Golf course, in 2005, Diego said that his earliest inspiration to be a chef came from growing up in Pujerra. “I can vividly remember the flavours of dishes prepared by my mother and grandmother in Pujerra. I remember as if it was today the meals that we ate together as a family at the tale. These flavours have always been with me and they are evident in the food that I prepare at El Lago.
“The award is a great honour for me” Diego continued “I have a great affection for my village and always try to visit when I can”
